What is interesting is who issued the visas and where.
"Mr Aklhashali arrived in New Zealand just over a month ago on a UN passport, Mr Peters claimed. [...]
The Government said it would tighten up the issuing of visas overseas. Both Iraqi men were issued visas in New Zealand's Bangkok embassy."
A UN passport?

Yeah, I noticed that too. I had no idea that a "UN passport" even existed. And if it does, it shouldn't.

In Parliament today Mr Peters accused the Government of "going after a wolf and producing a rabbit". He named Mr Aklhashali, saying he was a former Iraq minister for agriculture and agrarian reform and a former delegate to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).Food For Oil?

The UN considers itself the only real governing authority in the world. It doesn't surprise me that they have passports.

Unfortunately, by this country's standards your State Department would be considered conservative. We do live in such a culturally and politically leftist paradise, eh?
