Republicans win right to challenge Wash. state election: Republicans have won a victory in their challenge to the election of Governor Gregoire. The judge says Republicans will be allowed to use "proportional analysis" to prove their case that illegal votes swayed the election.

You must not live in WA State, because there is not a lot of that perspective right now. I think everyone is angry, except the most partisan Demos, but many fair, middle of the road people (who voted for Gregoire) see what a sham this election has been and frankly are embarrassed about the near daily election issues that come to light. Felons voting, provisionals, ballot control, illegal activities on the part of election officials are just a few.
What you are saying is possible, but not here so far.

>"I think we should let it go... everyone there and throughout the whole country knows that the election was a fraud. Rossi should just run next time as the candidate of Conservatism and non-fraudulent election practices."<
Absolutely not! The DemonRats count upon Republicans to become frustrated, weary, disheartened, and thus to give up and say "Oh this battle just isn't worth it, we cannot win this one...it's too uphill, it doesn't really matter...what will the general public think if we keep dragging things out, through the mud..."
No matter how many times lies are repeated, they do not become true by repetition or default or lack of a better, nicer-sounding truth. If we concede this one, it is one more they win that they didn't deserve - and it comes at the expense of "we, the people".
It also allows them ample opportunity to pass laws, change voting procedures, protocols, and regulations out of the public eye, and without the moderating influence of Republican scrutiny to challenge them! This essentially gives them license to consolidate their power further, complicating and compromising our ability to win future races!
NO! NO! NO! A thousand times!

I appreciate your perspective, but here's my take: We can't afford a "let it go" mentality (As another poster suggested). That's what got us here in the first place. Likewise, we cannot be afraid of protesting a screwed up election just because the other side might do it themselves down the road.
I refuse to take on a hostage mentality. I refuse to be an "accommodationist". I refuse to "go with the flow", "take the high road", or "beat them next time".
The time is now and Washington state is our battlefield.
If we do nothing, it will be disastrous for conservatism. If we fail, it will be the same. And not just in Washington state, either. National democrats are studying this contest
Only by kicking their a$$es in court will we stop them in their tracks.

I don't live in Washington. Of course, my fears are born of where I live, which is a college town (we have three separate "institutions of higher education" and their branches within the border of our town) so I may be a little more cautious than one who actually knows the situation. I wish Rossi the best and am not trying to imply this should not happen. My sole concern is the national implications that could arise, but I also understand if nothing is done, than voter fraud will continue a la Richard Daly and John Kennedy. Glad to hear the climate in Washington is not as vicious as the one here.

I in no way wish for the Republicans to take this laying down. I was only trying to express my concerns. But overall I agree with you.
My largest concern is that overall we are dealing with a judiciary that at the moment is not really accountable to anyone. I just wonder if perhaps this is the judiciaries way to get involved to set the precedent and/or judicial tone they need for "their" cases. Of course that could be my paranoia working overtime. I just am cautious whenever I judge is involved. Perhaps it's because I became disillusioned in judges doing the right thing after the Schiavo fiasco.

Thanks, you must be a lawyer! I agree, Maria stole the Senate seat from Slade, it was not close enough and not enough were watching to see what was happening, plus everyone had their eyes on Florida.
IMHO, true election reform needs to be established at a federal level, at least some consistent standards about voter IDs, eligible voters definition and standards/accountability for those who administer elections. One needs only to read Logan's depo to see either that he is incompetent or a fraud.

DU thread, they are such crybabies and are paralleling this case with their lost elections. Yeah... No mention that Ohio was lost by over 100,000 votes and Floriduh by something like 300,000!!
That DEFINITELY compares to a 129 vote margin in a DemoRat-Infested state!
Must be B*TCH goin' thru life being clueless and thinking you know it ALL! No wonder them DUmmies are in constant frustration and agony!

Good news on the surface but I'm a bit worried about the "proportional analysis" being used here. Could this set a precedent for "proportional analysis" in other areas such as the census? It could be a dangerous turn in the road.

WA State is partisan, very partisan, but not many have the gall to support the way this election was managed.
My opinion is let them try to make the case that this was fair, the facts just do not support that position. If you have not, go to www.soundpolitics.com, all the data is there. The person in charge of King County Elections, Dean Logan, has a high school education and no experience as an auditor or accountant, and he was running the elections for the largest county in the state, his answers on the depos at times were nearly comical.

I'd be interested to read the depositions. Thanks for the link. I'll be going there shortly! I only hope that if it's that blatant that the "average" American would read this.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm a little disillusioned, that may be part of where my cautious nature is coming from. I also just graduated law school, so my view of public opinion is probably different than someone who can actually talk to a *normal* person occasionally.

Good grief, I figured we were going to lie down and let the dems walk all over us as usual. Don't tell me the legal system works for republicans, too

actually this is beyond just letting it go.
It is not about overturning a fake fourth recount this is about prevention.
A court ruling in favor of the republicans can prevent under court order the same games from being played again. It can establish uniformity and criteria. Perhaps even required video survalance.
Fraud prevention is a significant part of this since a reveal of fraud will be excellent in the upcomming governors election after this travesty.

An awful stench is in the air in Seattle
Gregoire stole an office there in Seattle
Once the fraud would begin, they'd recount till they win
Though a voter may be dead, we get his vote the RATS said
That is how they're being led in Seattle...in Seattle
Extra votes kept being found in Seattle
Like Cook County they think they are standing tall
Christine had done what she must...come on, Feds, how 'bout a bust
They did it in broad daylight, after all

Many got their ballots late...aw, too bad, they missed the date
That's really their tough luck the RATS agree

When was the last time a democrat or republican operative has gone to jail for violating election laws?I don't know about gone to jail, but in Wisconsin there is this criminal case against Democratic party operatives for vandalizing Republican get-out-the-vote vans.

I undestand your concern over stalling and the Dem's not wanting an election this November. Justice is slow, that is for sure and I would not be a bit surprised to find the Supreme Court help slow things down if they can so that an election is delayed.
That is why I hope that Judge Bridges delivers to both the State Supreme Court and to the Legislature (which I think would need to meet in special session to schedule a governor's election) a nuclear option. That is that the Supreme Court if they overturn Bridges decision will do something that they really don't want to do and that as repugnant to the Legislature as calling for a new Governor's election they will prefer that over the alternative of doing nothing or delaying things.
I have often seen judges fine groups as being in contempt and allow the fines to mount quickly as the clock moves if a state agency refuses to act.
Again, I suspect that the see the poll book signature and absentee ballot envelope signature will slow things down and possibly prevent a November election, unless King County really gets cooperative.
