I guess some of our fellow FReepers either cannot see how or simply refuse to admit that ours might be a well-reasoned position. By their way of thinking, we must be "fuddy-duddies" and "prudes," or else we're out to disparage the Bushes.

The First Lady wasn't raunchy. She was edgy, and she was funny.

Indeed those that read more into her jokes are obviously either serious repressed or in fact enjoy the raunchy jokes and are pretending to be outraged or feel guilty at actually laughing at some genuinely funny.

Thanks. Recall what Bill Clinton did to teen viewpoints towards oral sex. The presidency is a powerful institution - and nothing undercuts a parental argument faster than a teen retorting, "but the president does it!"

So now, we'll probably see ABC running promos that the First Lady and Lynn Cheney watch Desperate Housewives. And kids will see the promos, and when parents tell them they can't watch the show, they'll retort, "but the First Lady watches it!"

I'm sure some folks will say I'm being absurd, but, then again, liberal defenders of Clinton tried to say that his Oral Office affairs were private and would have no impact on morality.
