What she did in GA by running away wasn't a crime.

Well, she did deliberately allow Georgia law enforcement agencies to waste a ton of money looking for her.

Which reminds me of this joke.........

Man phones his friend's house: "Hi, Jennifer. Is your Daddy home."

Five year old Jennifer in a very soft voice: "He's very busy."

Man: "What about your Mommy?"

Jennifer: "She's very busy too. They're both talking to all the Policemen."

Man: "Police?!? The Police are at your house?"

Jennifer: "Yes. There's lots of them. And a helicoper too. And Police doggies."

Man: "But...but....why?"

Jennifer: "They're all looking really hard."

Man: "Oh, my goodness!!! What are they looking for?"

Jennifer: "They're looking for me."

Yeah, she should but I don't think she is obligated to pay for a search. Any of us can get in our car and leave whenever we want to. We probably all think about it at some point but most of us think things thru. She should have to answer for the false report though.

it seems to me that if there are going to be criminal charges, the police in New Mexico should take care of that. But it would be great if the Georgia police could make her pay for the costs of the investigation/search. It certainly sounds like her family has enough money to cover it, judging by the scale of the wedding. On a related note, I wonder if this woman would have been able to deal with her "cold feet" in a more mature manner had the wedding not been such a ridiculously elaborate affair. The fact that there were 28 attendants, over 600 guests, 10s of thousands of dollars invested in this shindig must have placed enormous pressure on her not to call it off - resulting in this dramatic hoax. Whatever the case I hope she gets some psychiatric care ASAP. Her fiance would be wise to reconsider his future with her as well.

We do know why she chose to do it: she stated that she has wedding jitters. It's just that no one cares. I know I don't. She put her loved ones through torment, diverted valuable resources, and flat-out wasted a lot of peoples time.

Yeah. . .the hairly-legged and hairy-lipped man-hating NOW crowd will call their Hollywood friends and she will be portrayed as a victim. In fact, the day after she called in and was found I caught a short snippet on Fox. Seems some psychiatrist was saying the fiancé shares the blame for not knowing she was about to do a runner, "I mean, how could he have not noticed" was her statement.

Shessh. . .

That reminds me of that stupid film, The Hours. When a man leaves his wife and child, he's labeled a jerk. When a woman does the same, she's "finding herself."

She's an adult...what you're saying is that another adult should not be allowed to go anywhere (for an extended period of time), without them telling someone they know...

The Georgia DA was on one of the cable news channels last nite (I know it wasn't FNC 'cause Geraldo was on and I won't watch him). DA said he was investigating whether they could charge her with lying to LE in Georgia when she called in. Didn't sound too promising to me, but I'd think some high-up LE in NM would have some grounds for false reports.

Sure, as long as public resources aren't utilized in searching for this idiot. This could have been as simple as leaving a note that said she needed some time alone. Why should the taxpayer be billed for this adults lack of personal responsibility?

Police initially said there would be no criminal charges, but Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said Sunday that he was still looking into the matter.

The local peasants must be camped outside his office with pitchforks and torches. Otherwise it's not a crime in Gwinnet Co. for an adult to leave the house without telling anyone.

I can understand the rush of fear/anxiety before a major life change, but I can't understand not sending a note to the family and fiance. It's a blessing that no harm came to her. Pulling police away from others in true danger would be a difficult thing to live with, not to mention all the money and time family and friends spent to attend her wedding.

she did deliberately allow Georgia law enforcement agencies

Has she made such an admission ? Or have the LEO's proof that occured ? If that's the case then I believe criminal charges in GA are indeed on the horizon for this girl. This is gonna be a wait and see as I don't think anyone has the correct story including myself. We're getting all our "facts" from MSM for the most part or rumor. I'll just wait and see......ideas posted here are good but they have zero worth other than to just put disinformational spin on the story. Sunday afternoon freepin fun none the less.....Stay safe !

whether the runaway bride-to-be who admitted she made up a kidnapping story should be charged for making false statements to the police.

Let's see... YES!
