"Either that, or it shows male dominance. The guy gets what he wants."
You may be on to something. Just think of the lever of power Mason will be able to hold over this woman if he marries her. She'll feel guilt and he'll use it to his advantage.
Still, I think it would be a gross mistake for this couple to marry.
Heck... he could prolly kill her with immunity if he's careful about the evidence.
He just has to make sure he destroys her running shoes....
gross mistake...
Personally, I think it would be better for this guy to marry her than anyone else. I think I'd have been able to figure out before now that she was an airhead, anyway. But no guy wants to marry a woman who doesn't want him. That's the question that would be in my mind right now.

If he forgives and doesn't use it against her, they have a good chance to have a happy marriage. If he uses it against her, then their marriage is doomed. It is supposed to be about trust, love and partnership, not one upsmanship and emotional blackmail.
If the man intends to hold this against her, then they shouldn't marry. I suspect that the trust has been broken and HE will now by the one that has cold feet.
But we really don't know what her reasons were. For all we know, he could have cheated on her at the bachelor party or exhibited behavior (such as alcoholism or jealousy) that threw up red flags in her mind.
