WOBURN, MA -- A wild turkey is causing problems for almost all the residents of a Woburn, Massachusetts neighborhood, but one woman is accepting him with open arms.

"Tom" turkey, who appears to weigh in at about 20 pounds, has been so fearsome that some residents are afraid to leave their homes.

Police have tried to run "Tom" off, but the turkey continues to return.

Sharyn Newell, however, has befriended the bird and trained him to climb up her back and onto her head.

That's why I say there so many antelope roaming the front range...because they taste terrible! There wouldn't be so many of 'em if they were turkeys would there?

Are you kidding, they are good food! Just ask Ted Nugent!

I'll put you on the ping list now.

Turkeys can be territorial and possessive, all birds can. SIL used to have a tame rooster that walked him to and from the school bus, on the other side of SIL from the dog. ;-D

I had a domestic turkey (a tom) corner me against a fence- I tried to shoo it away with my baseball hat- in a nanosecond that turkey jumped up, knocked the hat out of my hand and commenced to stomping on it- after relieving itself on it he sauntered off---sheesh!

"Sharyn Newell, however, has befriended the bird and trained him to climb up her back and onto her head."

Obviously, this young Tom has no FATHER at HOME teaching him how to BE a Turkey.

I say we throw a zillion dollars at this, fund a government study with no accountablity whatsoever for end results and put an end to Fatherless Latch Key Turkeys!

Or, just kill and eat them all. ;)
