...I'm absolutely confused about how a dental procedure spun into life support...

I don't know about this particular case, but if you have heart disease or other heart problems you're generally asked to take antibiotics before having dental work done.

Perhaps bacteria from the teeth get in the bloodstream during a procedure and then attack the heart.

I don't know about heart problems but heart murmers you do. I have one and I have to take 4 amoxicillians one hour before any dental appointment.

I think I'm gonna go floss my teeth now....then slip into a bubble-suit.....and maybe rock myself to sleep.

The bacteria, which builds up in a few days of not flossing, can causes blood clots. So be careful even going in for a cleaning if you don't floss regularly.

Also if you have had hardware installed. Pins, screws, plates, sythetic mesh, etc.

My wife (who's 23) has had 4 open heart surgeries & she has to take a bottle of antibiotics before going to the dentist. Actually, maybe that has something to do with the fact that she hasn't gone in years...

Yep, we have two grand daughters with heart problems and they absolutely MUST take antibiotics prior to having any work done by the dentist.
