Millions flee Katie Couric

Incidents of widespread panic were reported across the country today as millions of terrified Americans fled Katie Couric, the host of the NBC's "Today Show."

The frenzied exodus marked the latest turn in the storied career of the morning host, once considered America's sweetheart but now widely seen as a ruthless diva capable of crushing all in her path at the slightest whim.

Gregory Drunson, 42, was one of hundreds who jammed a Greyhound bus terminal in Flint, Michigan, desperate to flee to Canada and be as far away as possible from the once-chirpy morning despot.

"I used to watch 'Today' every morning," Mr. Drunson said. "Now when I turn it on I am afraid that Katie Couric will burn a hole in me with her heat vision. I'm getting the hell out of here!"

The flood of refugees from Katie Couric might be the decisive factor in tipping the balance in the ratings war between "Today" and its closest rival, ABC's "Good Morning America."

According to Jode Croydon, who tracks the broadcasting industry for Credit Suisse First Boston, "News footage showing people packing up their belongings on the roofs of their cars to escape from Katie Couric could be harmful to the ratings of 'Today,' going forward."

But not so, says Jeff Zucker, President of the NBC Universal Television Group: "Anytime something happens that gets people talking about your show again it's a good thing, and this lemming-like rush to flee Katie definitely has people talking."

Following the NYTimes piece on Couric and her propensity to show off her toned legs and high heels, she wore a pants suit one day and had a plant placed to block her gams the next.

I'm sorry. I thought this was a review of the new "War of the Worlds."

I don't know if its the Today Show camera angle or what, but Katie looks like she no longer has a neck. Her head seems to be resting on her clavicle...

"Perky Katie" can eat my shorts. I turned her off in 1988 when she went from being America's sweetheart into attack journalist against GW Bush. My wife and I were taken aback by her schizo-like change overnight. Her questions were cruel and she delivered them like a rookie. We saw the politics and abandoned "Today" forever after years of enjoying Deborah Norville and Jane Pauley.

Fox news should hire her just to read the teleprompter on every Democratic embarrassment story.

The best TV footage of Katie Colonic was her innards during her "procedure."

Somehow I think the highlight of her career was her live TV colon exam.

It's appropriate and relevant because it's a real reflection of her attitude toward red staters ...

She's too old and flabby to be going around sleeveless. Her arms look awful.

So this is what a $64 million contract will buy you.

Could she look any cheaper or cheesier?

And didn't we all love the none-too-subtle comment on GW's re-election when she wore all black!
Way--waaaay overstayed her welcome on television.
Stick a fork in'er. She's done!

Buy?

Nah, surely she "borrows" the clothes, (or gets them for free).
