Family's Dog Eaten By Alligator After Chasing Ducks To Pond
POSTED: 7:12 am EDT April 29, 2005 UPDATED: 7:16 am EDT April 29, 2005
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County family is devastated after one of their dogs was attacked and killed by an alligator on Thursday.
R.J. Trudell opened the door of his Hunter's Creek home to feed some ducks in the yard. Gizmo, one of the Trudell's Jack Russell terriers, darted out the door and ran after the ducks, chasing them into the pond.
That's when an alligator grabbed him.
"The first thing I yelled was, 'Kathy, get a towel, because Gizmo's gonna be wet.' It didn't even come to my mind that there was even the gator there or didn't even notice him," explained Trudell.
Nuisance Control came out to the Trudell's home after the attack. They trapped the five and a half foot gator and killed it.
Doggie ping for ya.

It was probably a great surprise to the Jack Russell Terrier that he occupies a position several steps from the top of the food chain. They are very confident dogs, generally speaking.
Sounds to me like the alligator made a deal with the ducks. ;-)
Dog. The other white meat.
Why did the gator have to be killed?
Helloooo; you live in Floridahhhhhh.
The gator preferred dog meat to duck meat?
We have ducks in our pond all the time, and occasionally a good 5 or 6 foot alligator.
....No ducks eaten around here!
Why kill the alligator for doing what it does naturally?
Oh no, not Gizmo!
For some reason just typing that sentence seemed really funny. I guess you have to worry about the gators in Florida. I watch for the snapping turtles here in Texas. You would not believe how many one-legged ducks I've seen.
Dum-ass Trudell didnt realize every time he feed the messy ducks he was feeding the gator....To bad they killed the gator as he was probably there long before Trudell
If you need to report a nuisance alligator, call 1-866-FWC-GATOR (1-866-392-4286).
The Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program is administered by the Division of Hunting and Game Management through contracts between the Commission and nuisance alligator trappers. Approximately 40 private trappers are contracted to remove specific nuisance alligators. Individuals may call the toll-free number to submit complaints regarding nuisance alligators. The Commission will evaluate the complaint and determine if the alligator should be removed by a licensed nuisance alligator trapper. This program permits the harvest of alligators that are determined to be a threat to the welfare of the public, or the publics pets, livestock, or property.
In 2004, the Commission received 18,072 nuisance alligator complaints. Nuisance alligator trappers were issued 15,485 permits and tags and removed 7,352 nuisance alligators.
And Betty White still keepp it as a pet in the end *lol*
Yup, you have to have a Have-a-Heart trap in Massachusetts (I understand that law applies statewide) and relocate any trapped animals. My ex found a loophole; he relocated them to a well. :-)
