Where were you when the news came of the Fall of Saigon?

I was a janitor at W.T. Grants, who, after five years, had not adjusted to being back in the world. I met a young Vietnamese woman that day and told her how sorry I was about what happened to her country. I felt bad for my own country also. We had abandoned an ally to whom we had pledged support.

There are many on the Left who would have us do the same in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today's leadership will not allow that to happen, and that is the number one difference between the war we fight today and the one we lost 30 years ago.

From then the VC were pretty much run by the NVA. The Tet fighting in 68 ended the VC and NLF as effective anythings.
There were no more southern accents in the Communist radio traffic after Tet.

After the arrival of U.S. combat troops in 1965, the communist insurgency was indeed somewhat/largely over, as we quickly drove a stake in the heart of that beast. Then it became, for the most part, a conventional war with VC Main Force (PAVN) and NVA units. After Tet of 68, there were no more combat effective VC Main Force, Regional Force, or Local Force units to deal with, and the war was fought entirely with NVA regulars.

One of the many things the Main Stream Media failed to report was that no Viet Cong units marched in the communist victory parade held in Saigon after the war. The reason there were no VC units marching in the parade was simply because none existed.

I guess you haven't heard....somewhere around 1967,the rules were changed to "oppose any friend,support any foe". The likes of Kennedy,Kerry and Clinton will fire up a bone tomorrow and bask in the glow of a job well done.Too bad General Giap wasn't here to praise them once again for turning defeat into victory for Mao's puppets.
