WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush will hold a prime time news conference Thursday to discuss two "important priorities" for the White House -- Social Security and energy -- a spokesman said.
"This is an important period in the national debate over strengthening Social Security," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.
On Sunday, Bush is slated to complete a 60-day, 60-city tour during which he has called for change in the nation's retirement program for the elderly.
The tour was billed as an opportunity to educate the American people about the president's ideas to overhaul the Social Security system, which was established in the 1930s as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal during the Great Depression.

a "saving my seat" bump!
At least you addressed him correctly.
If all he does is apologize, he won't be forgiven. OTOH, if he decides to stand up to Fox and close the borders he will be.
I would love to hear him tell the real truth and say that anyone who claims that there is a trust fund or that the benefits are guaranteed is a liar.
Hmmmmmm
Dead troll ping

The post he's flaming, and indeed the thread, has absolutely nothing to do with what he's talking about.
And on top of that, it's even an old thread.
No I agree, with the little troll. The feds DO take too much. so the Prez should come on the air and announce he's ending SS, and cutting taxes to a 10% flat tax. All Federal transfer payments to end immediately to "pay for the tax cuts".
bye now
The same remark could describe payroll taxes.
Yeah, way ta go Mr. President.
BTW, let me remind you once again...YOU LOST!!!!!!
LOL!
Probably.
Which means that only FOX will carry this. The others will carry reality programming. Wouldn't want to disturb America's reality program watching for things of such little importance to the majority of Americans.
Bye, th3_n0ph."He's dead, Jim!"
How much of a person's Social Security contributions is currently invested? NONE. Here's how they should preface and ask their poll question.
Currently, none of a person's Social Security contributions are invested in any form of fully funded savings or investment system. Do you think changes should be made to allow approximately 1/3 of a person's Social Security contributions to be invested in a fully funded, properly managed retirement fund?
I posted before I read your post! Do you consider Social Security a fully funded savings and investment program? The President's plan will take billions of dollars out of the spending hands of Congress and it will be properly invested instead. What's wrong with that?
