FLASH: JUDY WOODRUFF LEAVES CNN
Media Bistro.com ^ | April 28, 2005

FLASH: JUDY WOODRUFF LEAVES CNN This message was just sent on CNN's internal messaging system: "To my colleagues and friends at CNN: I've decided to leave daily journalism after 30 years, 12 of them at this network. I've had challenging and exciting opportunities, been supported by an amazing and talented group of people, and made lifelong friends. I wish them the very best. I'm discussing several long-form projects in television. I'll also teach, do some writing and be an occasional consultant and contributor to CNN. To all of you at CNN who have been so wonderful to me, I can't begin to thank you adequately. But thank you. We will stay in touch and we'll always have memories of good journalism, good times and a few laughs together."

Hey, I knew Candy Crowley when she was thin. That was a LONG, LONG time ago. Like the rest of America, I am sure it's her thyroid.

Her thyroid causes her to eat that much? ;-)

Ever notice how these folks never appear on the other side of the interview table? I'd love to see Bret have him sub as an Fox all-star (not that he even deserves recognition as anything but slime) so that Hume could perfom his usual elegant smackdown. Oh, and allow Juan a week or two to recover.

Now Mr. Matthews about your ratings, Just who watches your show besides some folks who prefer tinfoil as a chapeau..?"

That's what it comes down to now in the MSM, nothing but memories of the good times gone bye.

KELLY RIPA

Show: "Live with Regis and Kelly" (ABC)

Big break: Playing Hayley on "All My Children" in 1990
Reported contract: $40 million for 5 years
Personal style: Downtown cool
Shade of blond: Beach
Pet cause: Kids
Viewers: 3.6 million a week

vs

KATIE COURIC

Show: "Today" (NBC)
Age: 48
Love interest: Sometime boyfriend, Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner
Children: Elinor, 9; Caroline, 5
Big break: Replacing Deborah Norville on "Today" in 1991
Reported contract: $65 million for 5 years
Personal style: Westchester mom
Shade of blond: Honey
Pet cause: Colon cancer awareness
Viewers: 6 million a week

I would rather watch Kelly any day. I wish I would have had the drive for TV when I was in school. Eight to 13 million bucks a year to drink coffee, laugh on cue and read a teleprompter sounds like a pretty good gig to me.

BTW: Is "Westchester Mom" the same as "Bitch"?

Has anybody seen any numbers for CBS since Rather left?

They've moved past the toilet and into the sewer.

"CBS' "Evening News," led by interim anchor Bob Schieffer, saw its lowest viewer tally on record last week, while the sprint for first in the evening news race remained incredibly close with 150,000 viewers separating NBC and ABC.

CBS' 6.1 million average nightly viewers last week was its lowest total since record-keeping started in 1987."

"Who's going down next?"

Hey, someone (not me) should make a "death" list and we can all pick our next candidate to "die". Winner gets his or her screen name posted of FR!
