Nokia on Wednesday announced a trio of new phones, including one that can store up to 3,000 songs.
The N91 has an integrated 4GB hard disk and supports digital music formats including MP3, M4A, AAC and WMA, Nokia said.
Additionally, the handset comes with a stereo headset with remote control. The N91, expected to ship by the end of the year, will also feature a 2-megapixel camera, e-mail support, a Web-browser and video-sharing capabilities, the device maker said.

4GB for 3000 songs. That's only 1.33MB / song. Either they are short songs or compressed until they are unlistenable.

All electronic devices are being folded into cellphones.
First the pda (sales of which have plummeted in response), then the digital camera (soon to follow), now the iPod (next?).

The songs would have to be very low bitrate to get 3,000 songs on a 4GB drive. Then again, this is a tinny little phone, and not a computer with speakers or a home stereo system. Songs of any genre sound like garbage the lower the bitrate.

A stereo system, a camera, e-mail, a Web-browser and a video production facility - yawn. Don't call me 'til it can make me a sandwich.
Seriously, the long anticipated convergance takes another step - hand held PCs versus Cell Phones.
Fast forward 10 years - what will your hand held 'Swiss Army' thing-a-ma-jig be doing for you then?

I must be living in the stone age, but I think someone should market a cell phone with a flashlight in it. Instead of digicams, etc.

Yup, because 'everyone' already has a cellphone, it's easier to add functionality to what they already are familiar with than to introduce something new and foriegn.

And the battery will last? Something tells me the battery will have to be massive to be able to do all this and allow you to talk for any length of time.

Makes more sense to me than a phone/camera.
But I'm sticking w/ my $10/mo. prepaid Walmart phone for now.
