Electrode is failing. Causing some slight nerve "twitching".

Chemical addictions are rarely a choice.

True. I had a vasectomy and had percocet prescribed to me. It really takes the pain away. But it is very addictive and hard to stop taking. Makes you feel great plus your body craves it.

Mapping is annoying but CI patients do it on a regular basis. It's tweaking the software within the CI by sounding beeps & measuring the difference between the loudest sound heard and softest sound heard across about 17 frequencies. Somehow you get too used to the old map, start missing out on certan sounds, and a new one needs to be made every year or so. No need to worry.

yes, its working just fine.

Shes 4 now and has a delay in expressive language...about a year behind with her hearing peers.
Receptively she is much more "normal".
As parents we are working hard to get her to learn to read, we feel that is a major key in her language development.
presently she knows the alphabet, numbers up to 20, how to spell her name and a few others, and does 100 piece puzzles.
She works very hard.

Rush's hearing loss is his own fault - it's a common side effect of prolonged use of high-dose opiates like Oxycontin and Percoset.

Baloney. I experienced Sudden Hearing Loss 7 or 8 years ago. Fortunately I was 100% cured through the use of anti-inflammatory drugs. I never used "high-dose" opiates. Is it really necessary to attack Rush like that?

According to my doctor that is wrong. I was on long term pain killers and when the report came out about possible hearing loss associated with painkillers my Doctor's take was it was the high doses of Tylenol and not the opiate. Do junkies go deaf?

So don't listen to him. It's a free country.

There are places on the net for people to post who don't like Rush, and/or other Conservatives. Places like the Daily Kos, DU, CP. I assure you they are gloating at Rush's bad news.

Why people want to put down someone like Rush, who has given so much to all of us, is beyond me. I'll never understand it.

And until you have woken up one day, and lost the ability to hear out of one or both ears, I suggest you and the other Rush bashers put a cork in it. I'll be polite and not say what "it" is. :))

Who's enabling.

Just pointing out that this has been cussed, discussed, dissected and played out.

Talking here about cochlear implants, okay?

Someday after a year clean, he could even be a sponsor. Imagine being sponsored by Rush Limbaugh! That would freakin' rock!

The mere possibility is reason enough to pick up the habit!

BTW.. Have you ever been prescribed Oxycontin, Percoset or Vicodin? If you haven't, then zip your lip.

A couple years ago there was a very long story in the NYT Magazine by a guy who had been prescribed Vicodin for pain, became addicted, and still wanted it years later.

There was no indication in the story that he had been pursued by a democrat DA and accused of committing a crime by becoming addicted to a prescription medication.

Unfortunately we have to suffer through Tom Sullivan as guest host today. YAWN . . . the only guest host I really like is Roger Hedgecock.

Hedgecock is pretty good. So is Walter Williams. But nobody is like Rush.

It might be fun to give a listen to Air America, as they grovel for forgiveness...

I'd rather gloat over their misfortune. :)

Thank you "doctor" for this revelation! Lemme tell you something.......my mother was hooked on Hydrocodone (she's 78) and my father in law is hooked on Vicodin, (he's 81). DON'T spout off so quick unless you've walked in other peoples' shoes. This stuff is highly addictive and don't think it can never happen to you. I don't blame the users for getting hooked, but I highly respect those who kick the habit.

I'm absolutely convinced of it. In fact, I noticed when he went deaf, he referenced FR (albeit often in jest) with much greater frequency. It rather makes sense as he could not "listen" to TV or radio, and would have been significantly more reliant on the net for both news AND analysis. This is a great place for both, eh?
