Many adults in the United States think pregnancy termination should be permissible, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. 56 per cent of respondents say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 41 per cent disagree.
A Supreme Court ruling in 1973 gave American women the right to an abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. U.S. president George W. Bush signed a federal restriction on late term abortions in November 2003, but the law was immediately challenged by U.S. District Court judge Richard Kopf, who issued a temporary restraining order.
The U.S. House of Representatives is currently considering the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act. The billsponsored by Florida congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of the Republican Partyseeks punishment for anyone who transports a minor to another state to have an abortion, and is not the minors parent or legal guardian.

This poll is a fig leaf to provide cover for Democratic Senators.
The only poll I care about is the one that takes place on the first Tuesday in November. I'd love to see how they got the numbers they wanted, though...
So what is it this time with the ABC/WaPo Poll? Is it push polling or maybe another case of over sampling liberals and Dems? At what point do we just chuckle whenever we see an ABC/WaPo poll?
This is such a lie. Year after year the support for abortion has dropped. Technology has proven that a human being is being murdered. And partial-birth abortion is the sickest, grosset thing around. What kind of butcher could perform that procedure? Oh, and we have to "respect the ruling" of the judge who overturned our legislators.
If an abortion were shown on TV one evening, support for it would collapse. Ever notice how these Abortionists never want this to happen???????????/
I support abortion, just as long as we can retroactively abort Hillary, Maureen, Nancy, etc.
If the majority agree with abortion rights then we should vote on it.
which explains why the left keeps winning presidential races...
and why even Hillary is talking like a pro lifer these days....
makes since to me... NOT
The Senate version of the Child Custody Protection Act is among the GOPs top 10 legislative priorities, making it possible for Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) to Rule 14 the bill, said Amy Call, a spokeswoman for Frist. Under Rule 14, the measure can be placed on the Senate calendar, where it can be brought to the Senate floor at any time without the need to go through the committee process. The original House version of the Child Custody Protection Act has passed three times in 1998, 1999 and 2002. It stipulates that if an adult transports an underage girl across stateliness to avoid parental-consent laws in her home state that adult would be committing a federal offense.
Wasn't this the same poll that showed most Americans in favor of the Republicans committing mass suicide?
These "polls" supporting Dem/Lib positions on various issues are job security for Rush Limbaugh and other "new media" outlets. El Rushbo went over this creating-news-with-a-poll process yet again yesterday. It's obvious the Dems/Libs have no other options to get their message across than to create false headlines with bogus polls.
This is skewed, manufactured "news" from the W.P. and ABC. Someone, I'm sure some will point out other deficiencies, but the alleged starting fact is wrong:
A Supreme Court ruling in 1973 gave American women the right to an abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. U.S. president George W. Bush signed a federal restriction on late term abortions in November 2003, but the law was immediately challenged by U.S. District Court judge Richard Kopf, who issued a temporary restraining order. The last sentence self-evidently contradicts the first, which is false besides. Roe and Bolton had enough loopholes to drive a train through and didn't restrict abortion killing in the slightest through any stage of the baby's life. With "facts' like those, it is no wonder what the outcome of the "poll" is.
Cordially,
I once watched a documentary that included an ultrasound film of a baby being killed by an abortionist, using a suction tube similar to a vacuum cleaner hose.
I agree it's disturbing to see a little person fighting for her life, swimming as far as possible from the vacuum tube and losing the battle one limb at a time.
If this is so, then the left shouldn't object to overturning Roe and sending the issue back to the state legislatures.
The appearance of this paragraph immediately marks this as 'polling with a purpose'.
When are the American people going to wake up to the fact that polls are meant to manipulate, not to inform?
Pollsters make me wish we could bring back the tried and true American tradition of tarring and feathering...
"If this were true, you wouldn't have Howard Dean and others at the DNC worrying about how to make the party more amenable to pro-life voters."
Absolutely true....another sophomoric "technique of progaganda" by the pro-aborts to try and convince us that we're in the minority.
Would you absolutely support abortion rights even if the child could viably live outside of the womb without the mother's nurishment? (I.E. after 22, 23 weeks or so)
I'm convinced that the answer would be a resounding NO. Even though they say 'in all or most cases' I think most people take that to mean 'rape, incest' etc. Not 'if the child could live outside the womb, shouldn't the child have the right to self defense from the mothers whims'???
I hope Rush reads this poll today and brings back caller abortions..
