"Doom and Gloom manufacturers" have another much more accurate name, "Reality Revealers.

We don't look for silk lined articles that can be swallowed with a smile. You know the ones meant for the sheeple that omit the full and factual chain of events expected from a Presidential signature.

The current move in some States that are pushing for State resident rates in college for illegals never seem to mention that those seats have two expected actions. One is to educate the illegal aliens, a very fine and worthy deed in and of itself. The unmentioned one is the American (citizen) students who will not be able to get a seat in those courses.

Expected results that aren't mentioned, aliens with their college degree will be in supervisory positions making decisions about who should be hired and fired. What other companies will be doing business with their company. What countries will receive preferential treatment, etc.

When you look at what wasn't mentioned in the silk lined article, that is when you see the thistles and barbs that make the sweet smile turn into a hard and serious frown. Swallowing what was presented as a kind humanitarian act suddenly turns very bitter!

Why should a non citizen receive preferential treatment over citizens whose mothers and fathers have been working to help their communities and their country become a safe place for their children?

I agree heartily with your post---if you have ever seen me post in the past, you would KNOW my vehement dislike for the illegal immigrant situation. I live in Texas where we feel the brunt of social services being "paid for" and all that---

I was really being facetious when I typed that post, but I don't know the "symbol" for facetious---I guess I should have used the sarcasm symbo---I apologize.

THIS IS A TROJAN HORSE LAW!!!!!

THIS IS AN EFFORT TO REINSTATE THE "ANCHOR BABY" WHICH WAS DONE AWAY IN THE 1994 (i believe) IMMIGRATION REFORM ACT.

This will FORCE illegals to claim their child is being educated so they can't be deoperted!!!

THIS LAW IS NO ABOUT JUSTICE IT IS ABOUT FACILITATING ILLEGAL ENTRY!!!!

The Dream Act has not been passed yet and we as Americans have to protect our Children. Colleges only have a finite number of in-state tuition slots. For every in-state tuition slot that an illegal immigrant child gets, an American child will lose. And to be frank, with the high cost of college these days, a lot of American children can only attend college if they go at in-state tuition cost. The supporters of the Dream Act are saying that the illegal immigrant children should not be blamed for their parents bringing them into the U.S. illegally. While this is true, the American children should not be blamed either. But they are the ones who will pay the cost. The supporters of the Dream Act say that illegal immigrant children (50 to 60 thousand a year)that are not given the opportunity to attend college at in-state tuition cost will possibly be the criminals we will have to deal with later on. That is a total cop out and sounds like scare tactics or even a threat to me. And what I ask you will happen to the American children who will not be able to go to college because they lost a slot for in-state tuition to an illegal immigrant child, couldn't they become criminals too. The Dream Act Supports are not supporting American children, so we have to. Write your congressman/senator and tell him to vote no to the Dream Act and Yes to American children. American children should come first in American. It is their home. I really think that those of us who are against illegal immigration need to do demonstrations and start speaking out. Do not be afraid. One of the things that these pro-illegal groups will be the first to say is that you are racist. Blacks and other minorities will stand with you. I am Black and I can tell you, it is not about race to me, but about econimics. We have to take care of our own citizens first. Americans should support Americans. Spread the word to your friends, relatives and anyone who will listen. Most Americans do not even know about the Dream Act. Well it is time they did.

Hi Edie.

I see you are passionate about this, as we all are. In light of the impending Hurricane, Rita, this probably won't get much notice at this time.

So we need to post another thread after the storm passes to bring this to the forefront again.

We can't let this sneak past us.

Illegal immigration is caused by United State's ability to wreak havoc on Mexico's economy, monopolizing every sector it can get a hold of. Permiting entry of American companies on Mexican soil but not the other way around, utilizing it for cheap labor and dissolving an almost diminished Mexican middle class. The USA initiates countless Free-Trade agreements with countries, the most notable NAFTA under Carlos Salinas De Gortari's Presidency which claim to stimulate economic growth but failed do so and resulted in a DEVALUATED MEXICAN PESO. Americans do you know where this is going? A massive influx of immigrants toward a richer first world-nation up north. Immigrants in the USA will have children and grow up. Some, as myself, will want to go to college and become someone. Some one mentioned that immigrants don't pay taxes. There is a sales tax on every single product and service you buy. Moreover, millions of immigrants do not even get an income tax after working year-round let alone medical insurance. I think much opposition stems from American's egocentrical idealisms. It doesn't take a Mexican to tell you the average American is a tv-generation-oriented-ignorant-the-simpsons-watching-arrogant-culturally declined individual due to your own manipulative media that veils how the US is really fucking everyone. This is very sad. If you would only know how conditions are in other countries not only Mexico you would realize and have an understading view on this concept. The americans that are not in college aren't because they choose not to be. Do not mention in state tuition slots. Spare me your lack of information on the subject. And may I add immigrants form the fabric of this country and have always faced hardships since the nation was founded. So I guess it is understandable why people would be opposed to giving the immigrants the right to go to College and working after graduating. It is a competitive world my friends no matter what side Mexican or American.

It's getting so that the only way to achieve the American Dream is to not to be an American.

Exactly right.

They're just taking the college educations that Americans don't want.

The other side of the arguement would be "They're just taking the college educations that the welfare, underclass Americans don't want."

Fact is, college for almost motivated person in the US is within their grasp. You only have to want to do it.

That is a criticism best addressed to the corrupt Mexican government, which not only invites American companies to its soil, but encourages their citizens to break American laws by coming into America illegally.

I dare say, many Americans don't agree with NAFTA, or other treaties, most recently the one our President is pushing with South America. Many other Americans are ignorant as to the negative effect and impact of these treaties within our own country, much less Mexico or others

Some one mentioned that immigrants don't pay taxes. There is a sales tax on every single product and service you buy. Moreover, millions of immigrants do not even get an income tax after working year-round let alone medical insurance.

Illegal aliens, whether paying sales tax or otherwise, are still here illegally, and therefore, are criminals from the start. Criminals here illegally are not ENTITLED to benefits given to our country's legal citizens, who pay withholding taxes AND sales taxes AND property taxes, to name a few. These benefits include: being legally employed, and because of that, benefits an employer may give to its employees. Many, many Americans do not have health insurance; but they also are not given "free" medical care at hospitals, like illegals have been receiving. The "free" medical care the illegals receive are not FREE. AMERICAN TAXPAYERS' monies are being drained away from other programs to pay for this care. Those hospitals/medical facilities which are not being reimbursed by AMERICAN TAXES are going bankrupt/run out of business, because there's no such thing as FREE HEALTH CARE...someone pays, and it's not the illegal aliens.

I think much opposition stems from American's egocentrical idealisms.

Then you think wrong. Much opposition stems from Americans who do not want ILLEGALS STEALING FROM AMERICANS. Much opposition stems from Americans OUTRAGE that ILLEGALS are BREAKING OUR LAWS to get in, and once here, COMMITTING MORE CRIMES, taking away resources, such as law enforcement deaths, citizen deaths, rapes, and other crimes, straining our educational facilities.

If you would only know how conditions are in other countries not only Mexico you would realize and have an understading view on this concept. The americans that are not in college aren't because they choose not to be. Do not mention in state tuition slots. Spare me your lack of information on the subject.

Then do something about your own country. That Mexico has historically had corruption within its government and other problems isn't America's fault. Take responsibility for its failures. Take responsibility for making Mexico the way you want Mexico to become, for all its citizens. Whether or not American citizens choose to attend college is their right and choice.

Furthermore, it's outrageous that though illegal aliens are handed money to go to our colleges, there are MANY Americans who would attend but CANNOT because they, and/or their families, earn barely too much money to qualify for grants, which amount of income is barely over the poverty level.

I guess it is understandable why people would be opposed to giving the immigrants the right to go to College and working after graduating

Mexico has colleges. What's wrong with expecting to attend colleges within your own country? Our colleges are for American citizens, and guests to our Country. Guests have no right to set the rules in their hosts' own home. One of the rules is permission for legal entry, otherwise, the guest is nothing more than a criminal trespasser.

A college education in our marxist dominated institutions should make them INELLIGABLE for citizenship.
