Story just breaking: Amber Alert is for: Margarita Lopez, 12 yrs. old. Suspect is an acquaintance of the guardian of the girl. Family are not US citizens and are from Mexico. Florida police have a description of the car. Suspect is a man named "Perez" who might be trying to return to Mexico, also not a US citizen. Feeling is that she might be in danger; authorities do not believe the child left willingly as she did not know the suspect.
Not again.
Anybody have a FL ping list?
This is getting so very disgusting. Even though it appears none of these people are from Florida, but were there in a motel (I believe), and are Mexicans, the thought of another child being taken is driving me MAD! What is with our sick society?
I have a hunch about the perp...
Lets not forget that children aren't only abducted in Florida. The media is concentrating heavily on Florida but it happens just as often in other places as well.
Not again..In Florida as well.I will pray for this little girl.
A modest proposal for sex offenders:
I sit here amazed that Martha Stewert is walking around with an ankle bracelet, while sex offenders are allowed to walk around practically invisible and free. My proposal is this... make sex offenders wear a trackable ankle bracelet as a probationary measure for the rest of their lives. This would easily replace the registry that so many "fail" to keep up anyway. It could also include a light or indicator that could be activated whenever a child is reported missing. Anyone within a certain radius of the missing child would have the anklet turn on and would then be mandated to "check in" with authorities to alleviate them as a suspect right away. Tell the person if it breaks or malfunctions in any way to stay with it and someone will come to replace it. If they take it off and and are not there, they will be tracked down and thrown back in prison for the remainder of their life.
A simple ankle bracelet could solve so many of these horrible crimes against our children and would not only be cost effective, but it would be a better deterrent than a list...
These things have always happened. But modern technology and national alerts make us more aware. It used to be only local news. I hope this guy is not another pedophile killer and the girl isn't harmed.
Does sound familiar, but who knows what is motivating this perp. It appears, from what is said so far, that he is not a relative, however.
How about this: We make a law that says sex offenders cannot live in the general population. They must all be shipped off to a Shaker community (I know, there isn't one left, but they could start a new one). Why does the whole community have to suffer for these creeps' offenses?
Clearly, they are NOT all here to be hardworking.
I know, I thought that also. We keep hearing these almost daily. I just hope that the use of this wonderful "Amber Alert" method/system, that has saved so many children, does not make us "immune" to the urgency of reacting and watching. That is another part of the problem that society needs to consider. Apathy develops so quickly in our fickle world.
I'm with you! WHY? Why doesn't this stop? How sick is our society that children are murdered like cattle and discarded? Enough.
It's funny, but innappropriate, don't you think?
Margarita is approximately 4' 10," 65 lbs. Suspect's full name: Antonio Polito Perez, 26 yrs old. Traveling in a mid-1990's red Ford Aerostar. Guardian supposedly said she believes the girl is in great danger, according to the news.
The cost would not be nearly as much as maintaining the sex offender registries, paying for future trials and jailtime, and spending money on trying to track down and arrest those that are in noncompliance of the registry. It would also let authorities know exactly where any sex offender is when a child is reported missing... and this would save money as well as time to locate possible suspects. And wouldn't it be nice to be able to possibly find the children BEFORE they are killed? Being able to accurately and quickly track sex offenders reduces the time that they would even be able to be alone with a child and do harm to them.
Stanford Douglas, Jr...is that you?
I don't think we'll get immune. It appears to be waking a lot of folks up. If we get sick enough and mad enough, maybe we'll change some laws concerning pedophiles.
