One has to have some basic knowledge to understand satire. Obviously it's lacking at TIME.
Somebody HAS to answer for this:
Iraq Group Says Holds U.S. Soldier

DUBAI (Reuters) - A little-known Iraqi insurgent group said on Tuesday it was holding a U.S. soldier and threatened to kill him within 72 hours if Iraqi prisoners were not released, according to an Internet statement.
"Our mujahideen ... have managed to capture the American soldier John Adam after killing a number of his colleagues," said the Mujahideen Squadrons in the undated statement.
It carried a picture appearing to show a U.S. soldier sitting in front of a black banner with a rifle pointed at his head. The authenticity of the claim, which did not say where the man was seized, could not be verified.
"We will cut his throat in 72 hours if our male and female prisoners in the occupation jails are not released," it said.
A group using the same name, Mujahideen Squadrons, last month claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of a Brazilian engineer in Iraq (news - web sites).
Insurgents in Iraq, including al Qaeda's wing in Iraq, have been waging attacks on U.S.-led forces since they invaded the country in 2003.
AP and CNN ran with this story!
Dog, do you have a link to that thread??
That's got my vote. Hands down.
I wish I had bookmarked that thread. It was fabulous!
It makes me laugh just to think about that day and that thread ......some days are just *good.*
Oh, that one has my vote!! HA!
Oh, thanks, Bill!
1. How about all the reports that Yassar Arrafat had died. Did he ever really die? From what? Was it ever revealed? I gave up.
2. And then Fox news when Shepard Smith reported the Pope had died, and the word shot across the world instantly. That was horrible. And what was worse was how cavalier FOX was about the erroneous report.

If by " organization who has lied, fabricated, tried to dupe the public" includes organizations such as Viacom, I suggest this classic dupe -- Removing Hillary Boos.
http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/hillaryf.htm -- (excerpt) There was something missing when VH1 rebroadcast Paul McCartney's Oct. 20 Twin Towers relief concert on Christmas Day. The music video cable channel edited out the infamous 20 seconds where firefighters, cops and their friends in the crowd booed New York Senator Hillary Clinton off the stage. "The boos were ... replaced with general crowd noise," reports the New York Post's Neal Travis, adding, "the cable channel evidently wants to keep on Hillary's good side."
http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2002/cyb20020830.asp ---- 3) A video for the holiday weekend: Booing of Senator Clinton replaced by applause. Senator Hillary Clinton was booed when she walked on stage last October at a rock concert to benefit 9/11 victims. It was shown live by VH1 but, as ABC's John Stossel illustrated in a July 20/20 special on media distortions, when the cable channel replayed it sound technicians replaced the booing with cheering and applause.
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=4029 (excerpt) THE NEW YEAR ARRIVED in Times Square and elsewhere across America without any apparent terrorist incident. But an act of media terrorism during the holidays took New York Citys heroic firefighters and police hostage and abused them badly. On Christmas Day the cable network VH1 re-broadcast the "Concert in New York City" in which musicians and actors performed to raise money for these heroes families. But what VH1 re-aired was a perfect example of the revision of history George Orwell portrayed in his dystopian novel 1984. At the moment in that concert when now-New York Senator Hillary Clinton was booed off the stage by outraged firefighters and police, those watching this manipulated re-run heard only dubbed-in ordinary crowd noise no boos, no shouts from the audience of "Go away! We dont want you here!" at the Leftist politician who had courted votes by calling cops "murderers" while her husband pardoned convicted cop-killer Puerto Rican terrorists to win votes for her. "The cable channel evidently wants to keep on Hillarys good side," wrote Neal Travis of the New York Post. "VH1 is owned by Viacom, parent company of Simon & Schuster, the book publisher that awarded Clinton $8 million last year for a book she wont even have to write till next year," wrote Carl Limbacher of Newsmax.com. "Perhaps VH1 was just protecting Viacoms investment."
