Dusty is trying to steal the high ground here by saying he offered a compromise. This was all planned by the RATs and for Frisky to oblige would be spineless.

Scenario 1: Give in and Dusty can claim he was right and Frisky looks like the jerk he is

Scenario 2: Hold your ground and make Dusty sweat. Talk to the American people that this is merely a chess move by the Dimwits and were they truely concerned and bi-partisan this olive branch could have been offered long ago. Last point to make is 2 out of 10 is not even half a loaf!

I agree what the Rats are doing is illegal. The Constitution gives the Senate the right to advise and consent, not to prevent the full Senate from voting up or down on the President's nominees. As such, this isn't up to Frist or other Senate Republicans to compromise away. It's the President's power to select, not Congress.
