None the less, this is going to be one of the BIGGEST issues on the upcoming elections, the economy that is.
I am going to write all those in question and ask them why they voted the way they did. Their answers will be telling.
If you would like to participate please let me know because Senators won't respond to those outside their states generally. I would like to ask at least one Freeper from each state in question to send one letter and get the response to me. I will provide the letter if needed.
The Schumer Bill may not be perfect--in fact I can't stand that shmuck. I DO have something personal against him for things he did (unjustly) to people close to me.
None the less, if I want to find out if they voted nay because it was a poorly written bill or if they are literally against playing hardball. Let them do their own talking.
In other words, if it was just a poorly written bill, hell, I might have voted nay.
I want to know (and would like responses from every member in the Senate) as to why they voted the way they did to the negative.
I am in short going to go on a hunt to find out who is in who's pocket.
I will put my money on some answering like this, "the administration is agressively pursuing this matter and this bill would complicate those efforts..."....Meaning in short they voted nay in order to give the Admin a chance to deal with the problem.
I want to know who does and who doesn't support the idea of challenging China's economic issues.
I want to know who is ideologically opposed to punitive tarriffs on the basis that they think it will hurt the economy.
I want to know...
If you are from a Nay state and would like to participate please let me know and we will proceed.
Approximately 26 republican senators voted Yeah on the measure.
Only 7 Democrats voted for it.
38 Democrats voted Nay amounting to 56% of the opposition.
Pigs must be flying somewhere.
Both of my Senators (Smith and Wyden of Oregon) voted for it.
Smith can be a wishy washy as they come, so you never know what he will do.
Wyden is a lib 'Rat but, at least, he is a pro-business lib 'Rat.
In my state, Boxer voted against it. No surpise. But Fienstien voted for it. Intersting.
im going to go VISIT both my senators after work one day next week (Im from VA)
29 Republican Senators voted Nay.
Write Boxer and find out WHY....
"But Fienstien voted for it. Intersting."
That was my take on Wyden voting for it.
He may be pro-business, but he's still a 'Rat.
Just FYI, this is on a "motion to table," meaning that a "YES" vote is a vote against the measure, and a "NO" vote is a vote in favor. After the motion failed, the amendment was passed by voice vote.
Even if you have a Dem Senator, if they voted Nay, write them and ask WHY.
Both Ohio senators voted NAY:
DeWine
VOINOVICH
Please DO visit. But write letters also. I want documentation, especially for next election season.
Get me the results of your visit.
FYI, see my post 10.
Please correct me before we all go out making fools of ourselves....
FYI, see my post 10. You're reading the rollcall wrong.
What I'm saying is that you have it all backwards. The senators voting "NAY" were voting in favor of tariffs. The Senators voting "YEA" were against them.
Either case once we figure all that out I still want to use this list to find out the who's and whys those who oppose, oppose....
So, the nay votes actually means that they voted FOR tariffs? Hmmmmmmm. If that's the case, then it should be the other way around. Feinstein is supposed to be the more moderate of the two.
That shortens the list of those we need to write to.
ATTENTION ALL: if your senator is on the Yea list please write them and ask them why.
