LONDON (AP) John Entwistle's skeleton has sold at auction. Actually, both of them. A pair of skeletons said to have been used by The Who bassist to play pranks on houseguests sold for $840 at an auction near his home in England, the BBC reported.
On sale were more than 700 items that belonged to Entwistle, who died at 57 after a heart attack in June 2002.
A pinball machine fetched $2,800, no doubt thanks to The Who's classic song "Pinball Wizard."
Other items revealed Entwistle's eccentric tastes: A snakeskin-covered tambourine went for $305 and a stained-glass chess board decorated with Union Jacks and swastikas fetched $1,500.
"It was sad to see this stuff go, but we've got no room," said Entwistle's son, Chris.
The Who was one of the biggest bands of the 1960s and '70s, with albums including "Tommy," "Who's Next" and "Quadrophenia."

I wonder how much his butter knives went for?
Ping
Not nearly as much as his coke spoons.
He died a perfect rock star death. Old (but not too old), disgustingly wealthy, cocaine flowing through his bloodstream and surrounded by high priced call girls (who were undoubtedly beautiful and much younger than him).
I should be so lucky!
He also had an incredible collection of guitars. Unlike Townshend, Entwistle didn't smash his instruments.
Personally, I'll take the Thompson machinegun he used in the film The Kids Are Alright to shoot some gold records on his English estate.
And here's a bit of Who trivia: Those gold records were Roger Daltry solo albums!
All things considered, must people die of cardiac arrest. It's the path that takes you there where "cause of death" figures in. But I do agree with you, Scott.
57 is young, but in WHO years thats about 110 yo

This I find hard to believe . No room on an estate ? Methinks the taxman knocketh loud and often !
I remember when it happened, I was bummed, I always liked the Ox, and the who.The media is just so ... I want to say dishonest, but its more than that, they just don't tell you everything, either on purpose or they are just to stupid to discern the truth and then report it.
"Boris the spider man",....
I saw The Who about 4 times back in the late 60's etc.
I miss Keith Moon who was actually a good and musical drummer when he wasn't clowing around. I also like the fact that he drove a car into a motel swimming pool. What could be better than that?
I've never really been a Who fan. Never liked the irreverence and dark side. But they were/are an amazing group of players/composers.
Pinball Wizard and Eminence Front. Amazing songs. I was sorry to hear of the Ox's passing, and not only because it means we're all getting older.
I remember he said he was "researching" stuff because he claims he was abused as a child, I know that side of the story. I haven't heard any updates on the whole situation in a long time.
He was cleared of charges when it appeared that Townshend actually contacted authorities alerting them to a website he stumbled upon while researching pedophilia on the internet.
The headlines of his vindication weren't nearly as large as those announcing his arrest.
Sadly, for Townshend, his obituary will mention "Tommy" and "arrested for allegations of downloading child pornography."
I'm glad to hear that, and you are right, he will always be remembered for this, right or wrong.
And for the record, the sites that Townshend stumbled upon were of the "teen" variety --meaning teenage girls under the age of 18. Technically child porn but possibly not quite the same as looking at pictures of pre-pubescent children (depending on one's point of view).
I'm not justifying or defending anyone who looks at or produces these types of sites, just shedding a little light on some of the details that were buried in this whole fiasco.
