Federal Order May Require Mandatory Psych Screening and Medication of School Children By E.F. Winslow 4-22-05

There is a new, invasive government program coming to your state that is so Orwellian that it is seems beyond all belief. It potentially involves the mandatory mental health screening of all children in the state, and could actually mean that minors would be prescribed behavior-modifying drugs in school against their parent’s wishes. And to make the parallel to Orwell complete, the program is called the “New Freedom Commission on Mental Health”. The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health was created in 2002 by Executive Order 13263, but the recommendations and implementation of the program are just being released now. One of the six goals of the Commission was to make “early mental health screening, assessment, and referral to services…common practice”. This seemingly innocuous statement raised eyebrows with some in Congress, and Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) proposed an amendment that was prevent this bill from requiring mandatory screening and state-ordered medicating of children without parental consent. Last September, his amendment was defeated. He has reintroduced it this year as H.R. 181. ...

You are brave enough to teach future heros :) We all have a purpose. Yours may not be on the front line; but it is behind the line that still supports the front line.

My other heroes are in my class. It is the little boy who has thrived since he decided to pray with his mom each day that he would read better, the former bully who is a big teddy bear now, the girl who has overcome her shyness to become an excellent reader and leader, the boy whose mom has a brain tumor and is so proud that he is doing so well in school, the girl who has a hard time making new friends who has thrived since she happened to sit by just the right person, the boy who has gone up four grade levels in reading in one year, the boy who has thrived despite his "real" mom giving up custody to him, and so on. That's just THIS year. My biggest hero was the former student who died of brain cancer 2 years ago. He wanted to keep learning until the very end. Such is the very essence of teaching and the reason why I will keep doing it for so long (my goal is actually 40 or 50 years if I can help it--I'm almost 20% there). And no, I don't believe it is me who does it. I get blessed by the man upstairs every year. There simply is no logical explanation for some of the things I see happen and it certainly has nothing to do with this not so good teacher.

Special prayers for your brother too ;) He is the real hero, however, not me. Any person who volunteers to serve their country (especially him somewhat later than most do) dwarfs whatever I do.

Thanks for the link! Let's examine some of it. (Excerpts italicized)

Early Assessment and Treatment Are Critical Across the Life Span

Very innteresting, as they used to say on the old 'Laugh in Show".
Holy J J & M, doesn't the heading of this section alone give you chills?!!!

Life time bureaucrat shrink surveillance for every sad sack one of us by our friendly federal government!

For consumers of all ages, early detection, assessment, and linkage with treatment and supports can prevent mental health problems from compounding and poor life outcomes from accumulating. Early intervention can have a significant impact on the lives of children and adults who experience mental health problems.

The last time I checked, I was a free citizen of the good ole USA with full Constitutional rights! Not a g@@ damned "consumer".

Again, all this diagnosis and prognosis to be in the charge of the local commissar of "detecting mental (or political) deviates". Try this excerpt from another source, another time on for size.

For the first time in the Soviet period formal democratic election principles were defined in the Constitution of the USSR of 1936. According to this Constitution mentally challenged individuals as well as those convicted by a court of law and deprived of electoral rights (as an optional penalty) were debarred from elections. In fact, according to December 1, 1945 Resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR «On Enrollment of Convicted Individuals and Those Under Investigation in Voter Lists,» any individual persons who were under investigation or held in a temporary detention ward were deprived of their electoral rights.

But, back to our Amerikan version:

While schools are primarily concerned with education, mental health is essential to learning as well as to social and emotional development. Because of this important interplay between emotional health and school success, schools must be partners in the mental health care of our children.

Well, I'm not about to take all night dissecting this disgraceful piece of sheeple control garbage (brought to you by your smirking born again charmer).

We have already lost our Republic and alas, I sense that my oxygen stealing fellow "citizens' are quite willing to swwap "their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor" and their rights as free men for the pitiful pottage of a federal leviathon to look over them.

a revolt is forthcoming. we are clearly past the event horizon.

the republicans are worse than the dems, because they claim they support individual freedom while opening the borders, cavity searching gramma at the airport and demanding to have access to medical screening of our children without our consent and redistributing our wealth in quantities of heretofore UNHEARD OF levels.

a sheriff in arizona this week arrested and incarcerated a us marine for defending himself against illegal alien attackers, and his performing a LEGAL citizens's arrest with a legal sidearm... the DA decided the sheriff was wrong to do, what NO AMERICAN in his right mind would think of doing. .. arresting a lawful citizen for doing the right thing regarding his own self defence while defending this nations against all enemies foreign and domestic.

the minutemen are NOT being embraced wholeheartedly by our president... but securing the border is one of HIS primary responsibilities as president. He is failing miserably to live up to his responsibilities in this arena.

things are amiss in this once free nation.
Ron Paul is right to stand against this medication of children against their parent's will, crap.

too little.
too late.

>>> If you do then please please don't Google : Ritalin Child Protective Services custody

I can make websites too. Matter of fact, I do make them.

The source you need to read is the source the information came from. That is the Executive Orders. I won't even begin to enter this discussion until I've read them.

I stated I've not yet earlier in this thread.

Go to the source for the info, never secondary. The interpretations are what someone WANTS you to believe.

Yepps to all. Also think about- how do you justify a new mental health bureacracy? By making sure there are a lot of people needing your service that's how. So obviously it would be to the school's or whomever's advantage to have the children test as having mental health problems. Especially since I am sure the equation will look like this : More mental health problems = more federal money. And once a new agency is remorad into our system- that sucka ain't gonna leave go. And can you imagine, shudder, shudder, the leeway such a program would give the experts?
Doing homework would no longer mean the child was too lazy or too stupid or too bored, it would mean the need for INTERVENTION. A call to explore the underlying dynamics of the socionomic structure of the child and his/her primary support group. It would mean utilizing the public health resources within the community to arrive at a mutually benefecial solution to the child's inability to perform within the acceptable boundries of the learning environment. TA DA. I did that without a net!!!!

This sounds too much like propaganda.

Good heavens sir, how does propaganda get " Executive Order 13263" attached to it?

What would it take to shake you out of your comfortable "protected by that nice man in the White House" cocoon?

Throw off the tunnel vision goggles. This loathsome proposition has to do with education only on the periphery!

Excellent links, monkeywrench.

But my stance is that the potential political trauma from this odious proposition goes waaayyy beyond harm to our children or further acceleration of the out of control spending.

Wake up and smell the ovens! Now what the $%%$%$%$ does this refer to or have to do with the article???

It alludes to the simple, the naive, the in-denial amongst the German volk that professed ignorance of the sin right under their noses.

For over sixty years it has not been fear of Germans. nor of Russians, nor of terrorists that lay heavy on my heart.

No, instead it has been the gut roiling apprehension that EVIL would find a dwelling place right here in my homeland.

This ugly, useless, gargantuan, invasive proposition drips with the potential for evil the likes of which we Americans have not dreamed.

Capice?
