Federal Order May Require Mandatory Psych Screening and Medication of School Children By E.F. Winslow 4-22-05

There is a new, invasive government program coming to your state that is so Orwellian that it is seems beyond all belief. It potentially involves the mandatory mental health screening of all children in the state, and could actually mean that minors would be prescribed behavior-modifying drugs in school against their parent’s wishes. And to make the parallel to Orwell complete, the program is called the “New Freedom Commission on Mental Health”. The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health was created in 2002 by Executive Order 13263, but the recommendations and implementation of the program are just being released now. One of the six goals of the Commission was to make “early mental health screening, assessment, and referral to services…common practice”. This seemingly innocuous statement raised eyebrows with some in Congress, and Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) proposed an amendment that was prevent this bill from requiring mandatory screening and state-ordered medicating of children without parental consent. Last September, his amendment was defeated. He has reintroduced it this year as H.R. 181. ...

I'd like to think that Americans wouldn't stand for this......but I have my doubts.

I can't even imagine an agency doping my child.

The intended targets are younger, but the idea has been around for a years.

Do an internet search on the MK Ultra program some time.

In 1995, the state of Texas launched the Texas Medication Algorithm Project.
This needs to be stopped so that many thousands if not millions of children
will be saved from receiving stigmatizing diagnoses that would follow them for the
rest of their lives. America’s school children should not be medicated by expensive,
ineffective, and dangerous medications based on vague and dubious diagnoses.”

Congressman Ron Paul, an OB/GYN physician for over 30 years, is desperately trying to keep the drug companies, politicians and federal bureaucrats from becoming parents to your children. Dr. Paul will introduce on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning (whenever the floor schedule allows) an amendment to the Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Act for FY 2005 that will withhold funds for this new federal mental-health-screening program.

Dr. Paul’s letter says in part: “As you know, psychotropic drugs are increasingly prescribed for children who show nothing more than children’s typical rambunctious behavior. Many children have suffered harmful effects from these drugs. Yet some parents have even been charged with child abuse for refusing to drug their children. The federal government should not promote national mental health screening programs that will force the use of these psychotropic drugs such as Ritalin.”

Think about it this way... if school vouchers are used then the private schools will be receiving tax dollars and could be subject to this legislation as well...

We can't drop our guard for one second. I can't even imagine an agency doping my child. This is getting way out of control! My God!

I know what you mean. We're not teaching our kids for the power or the money. We're doing it because we love them and want to protect them from things like this.

OMG!, so scary!.

It's way beyond scary.

My God, an actual bill ready to be passed that invades the privacy and usurps the family responsibility of every American!

And, some of you seem only to be concerned as to whether you can hide out at home or in a private school!

This is a revolting example of what happens when the sheeple start to believe that they have God's Lieutenant in the Whitehouse.

That's the point I was trying to make... Most people are in complete denial about what the government is doing and instead of solving the problem by electing people who will actually obey the constitution they will instead look for ways to get around the problems - until there is nowhere left to run and then it will be too late to turn any of it around.

Thanks for posting this Beth.

I was just about to look it up.

Our President has quite a history but his born again puttin the stopper in the bottle seems to have totally erased the record (or lack thereof).

Unbelievable.

I've seen that problem, too. Wasn't that how they forced several all-boy private schools to go co-ed?

Freedom Commission

That's an oxymoron.

Orwell had a better word for it ... Newspeak.

What is it with "New Freedom" crap? That sounds like the kind of propaganda I'd expect out of a Marxist for-your-own-gooder.

Exactly! Marxists believe they increase freedom, because, in controlling your lives and keeping you safe, you are "free" to be alive, instead of starving to death in a heartless, capitalistic existance if you happen to be at the bottom of the poverty ladder.

This stuff gets mighty scary..Before we know it we will have a bunch of Zombies walking around..I do agree some children need help but most of the time what they really need is loving parents that will give them the time of day instead of what they want to keep them shut up.

I thought his Executive Order 13263 was revoked, 'Revoked by: EO 13316, September 17, 2003'?

That was authorization for the committee to meet and report.
Once the commission made its final report on July 22, 2003, the authorization was revoked.

But the report and recommendations still stand.

An old time and very wise poster suggested we would see marxism disguised as christian conservatism from this president.

He was permanently banned for it.

He was also right about everything he said.

Public school parents expect the government schools to raise their children for them. This is what they asked for. This is what they got.

Once the commission made its final report on July 22, 2003, the authorization was revoked.

It seemed odd this would get any where, but when people scream to have the government do everything for them, that's what they'll get. Satan said "Bow down before me, and all this can be yours!"
