I'll give a big 'hell yeah.'

Something for everyone. Wife thought Crighton was hot, and Aeryn was cool, I thought the reverse, and we all watched happily ever after.

And yes, I know there's no sound in space, yadda yadda yadda. But it was a FUN show.

Crighton teaching D'Argo to play rock-paper-scissors, Aeryn Sun (just on principle: Hot. Aussie. Carrying a Big Gun. Wearing black leather), the body switching episode (Rigel's, um, incident with a zipper; John's reaction to being in Aeryn's bod).

It was a hoot and we (the wife and I) shall sorely miss it.

Cross a mosquito with a man... BAM "Mosquito Man" is born

I maintain that "Mansquito" will go down in the annals of Sci Fi greatness!

Your picture of the Battlestar Babe came out as a red X. I assume it is of number six. IMHO she is one of the most attractive women on cable tv.

Ben Browder and Beau Bridges will be joining the cast.

Louis Gosset, Jr. has signed up as well. He'll play a Jaffa and political rival to Teal'c. Interesting.

Firefly intrigued me too at first even though one of the main characters was a prostitute. Shortly before the show was discontinued, they also started to play up a pro-homosexuality angle, which wasn't good.

What do we have to do to get the new season of Doctor Who on American TV?

I mean, Star Trek is OK, but for real Scifi, you need the Doctor.

No offense but everything mentioned here is dunnage compared to the Frank Herbert Dune series.

I got the Firefly DVD for Xmas. My daughter felt pity for me when I said I wanted it, but it was so expensive.

I can't wait to watch it.

Well, I guess I can, since I haven't done so yet, but...

As far as I know, TV that hasn't be released on DVDs are still kosher.

If you miss Enterprise tonight, you'll probably be able to pick it up @ http://www.btefnet.net/ this weekend.

... Babylon 5 which I think it the best Sci - Fi show ever.

I got to know (from afar) MJS before he launched B5 on the old SciFi and Canopus forums on Compuserve. I even got to meet him briefly when he was in Memphis for a Con.

There had been a lot of discussion of his TV series, particularly the relatively fixed 5 year story arc. In VERY broad terms he laid out the story as we know it (with no real spoilers) and he built up quite a buzz on that early incarnation of the net for his show.

When it debuted I had to write him about how I liked it, except for those aliens with the weird spiky crown of hair and comic opera uniforms. Combine the odd look and the fact that the guy who played "Flounder" in Animal House (Stephen Furst) was cast as one of them they were obviously the comic relief. I told him how disappointed I was in the rather obvious ploy.

MJS replied and (very patiently) explained to me that I had the nature of the Centauri all wrong, though he had meant to lead people astray, just as I had been. He pointed out to me just how "comical" the Samurai warriors must have seemed to the first westerners to see them, with their outlandish dress and their "comic opera" behavior. He then reminded me of the legacy of violence and blood left by the Samurai tradition, particularly in World War 2. The Centauri weren't the comic relief, by a long shot.

Once past that misimpression I was never disappointed in the show, even when it stumbled or went off in strange directions for one or two episodes (the King Arthur bit was lame, for example).

However, I will reserve judgement, for now, as to whether or not B5 was "the best sci fi show ever." That's too broad for me to accept without thinking about it some. After all, what are the parameters? Would Twilight Zone or any of the other classic anthologies be contenders? What about mini-series? Are we talking the best overall series or single episode? I mean, let's set the ground rules here folks... ;^>

The problem was the stupid temporal cold war and the Xindi arc.

The problem was Rick Berman and Michael Piller.

And I think you meant:

Had they NOT gone this route, this would not be the last season.

The stuff this year after Berman moved on has been quite good, particularly the multi show story arcs. I've read that the season/series finale is really disappointing, and that everyone is blaming Berman, who came back to write it.

"And then the little boy woke up" so to speak. Not quite Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower, but apparently not far off, either.

B5 was excellent... But I gotta admit, though it had cheezy low budget effects... its hard to beat

Enterprise was DEAD before the Xindi Arc... by season 2 it had shown it was flailing going nowhere. PC lectures, limp wristed "social conscious" captain... What should have been a mans man leading a manly crew out into the unknown was turned into a bunch of wusses tied up in nonsense.

Andromeda was great the first few seasons... once they had the commonwealth recreated though... went down hill big time...
