Shocker: Ted Kennedy's In-Law Spied on the Clintons
NY POST ^ | April 22, 2005 | DEBORAH ORIN and IAN BISHOP in D.C. & HOWARD BREUER in L.A.

Posted on 04/22/2005 2:34:20 AM PDT by Liz

Sen. Ted Kennedy's brother-in-law is the mystery witness who raised $100,000 for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and then went undercover and wore a wire to help the feds nab one of her top moneymen on charges of fund-raising-fraud, The Post has learned.

The witness, Ray Reggie, 43, has a sister, Victoria, who married Kennedy in 1992, and prosecutors say Reggie secretly recorded "incriminating" statements made by David Rosen, a top Clinton fund-raiser.

Reggie was close enough to Bill and Hillary Clinton to sleep over at the White House in 2000 and stay up chatting with the first couple into the wee hours.

Sources tell The Post that he is the "cooperating witness" — described but not named in recent court papers — and that he is likely to testify at Rosen's May 3 trial as part of a plea deal struck with federal prosecutors.

The well-connected Reggie stayed undercover for nearly 21/2 years, helping the feds on multiple probes, and was still wearing a wire and making secret tapes as recently as last December, federal documents show.

Reggie hobnobbed at the very top Democratic levels. A month after he'd raised $100,000 for Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign in 2000, Bill Clinton invited him to a state dinner for the king of Morocco — and a sleepover at the White House.

Reggie told The Times-Picayune of New Orleans that he and his wife later got a post-midnight knock on their bedroom door. The Clintons had come to chat.

Yesterday, Reggie, a Democratic campaign consultant who worked for both Clintons and for Al Gore, pleaded guilty in New Orleans to unrelated multimillion-dollar bank-fraud charges.

Notice in the old article that the unnamed witness is also a primary witness in ANOTHER case. WOW!

IIRC, Victoria's father was a rather prominent judge in Louisiana. If the old guy is still living, I bet he advised his son to cooperate.

Be sure to read the excellent article linked at #4. It has information on the father.

Thanks for linking that article here, abb.

It also mentions that Reggie did do fund-raising for Kerry. Pity the MSM won't think it was a bad thing that campaigns like HRC's and Kerry's are tainted with fund raisers the likes of Rosen and Reggie. Oh, well, the wheels of justice seem to be turning nonetheless.

Recall that Victoria and this guy's father was a prominent judge in Lousiana? Likely a big democrat. Don't know if the old guy is still living.

Yes--at the time I was excited, then today I'm wondering if it was just the case that Reggie has pleaded guilty to.

Though yesterday's Sun article seems to hint other investigations into other politicos.

Time will tell. It is very interesting that he has been cooperating. And yesterday someone linked up an old NewsMax (I know, but still) article from June 2002 informing of a raid on a warehouse that took place May 30, 2002. The records in the warehouse had to do with HRC's 2000 campaign. Then the mystery witness (today identified) starts cooperating about July 2002.

So humor me....If all this is true, and they really have some hard evidence against the Clintons....

..why have the Bush father/son allowed BJ such touchy/feely photo-ops lately.

Why include him in warm/fuzzy type events?????

Is it simply the "keep your friends close, and enemies closer" thingie?

President Bush is on record as not having an ax to grind against Clinton, isn't he? It will be pretty hard for attorneys to make the case that any of this is being done for political reasons, especially since the President has run his last campaign.

And by the way, I don't see President Bush being friendly with Hillary. HA!

Hah.....good point, Miss M.

It all makes perfect sense, now.....the recent photo ops with Bush/Billy...all the kind words, the tsunami appointment.

Bush was setting the Big Creep up for a fall (sigh of satisfaction).

...it's a rib-tickler thinking about all the Dumbocrats racking their, uh, brains, trying to remember what incriminating stuff they might have said to Reggie.

But from the New Orleans article linked at post #4 is this tantalizing potential "WOW":

The documents cited by the Sun suggest the FBI has sought to use Reggie as an informant in other probes as well. In the same memo, prosecutors wrote that the federal investigators wanted to use their witness in an inquiry into "a prominent political figure who may be involved in illegally soliciting foreign nationals to contribute to national political campaigns," the Sun reported.

This same article states Reggie did not record any conversations with HRC, however. It also doesn't indicate if the investigators had any success in following the above mentioned trail.

I say stow it away and save it to use as a hammer if Hitlery ever gets nominated. Meantime, let the whole dim party worry about the fruits of the spy work.
