Santorum notes that Senate leadership is in control of the timingThe Senate leadership is in control of the DEMOCRATS! FGS!
I'm not arguing with you Cboldt, just so exasperated I can't see straight.

but a fair reading of Santorum's comments is not that he advocates backing off indefinitely. I don't think I like your word "indefinitely". In other words, Santorum can fold for the rest of the year until he comes up with a different excuse next year.

They might as well be in the minority. It's apparently the only way they know how to operate.

I have to concede, you're right. Indefinite is just that. Could mean the difference between tomorrow and next week, or the difference between next month and never.
I think the timeframe Santorum is hedging on is "May" vs. "later than May, but in this session."
I'm not holding my breath. As history is our guide, the DEMs know how to play public opinion in such a way so as to obtain their objective.

Santorum is backing off the nuclear option citing internal polls...If I didn't know Santorum, I'd say he has counted the receipts and concluded he has milked enough contributions out of hardline conservative stands, so now it's time to close his suitcase and slip out of town.
And I don't know Santorum. :(

Someone came up with a good slogan.
Elect a RINO, get a MINO (Majority in Name Only)
To: dirtboy
They'll probably let half through so they can say they are still holding the line.BINGO!

As angry as I am at Voinovich, and Hagel, and disappointed with the rest of them, we do NOT want them in the minority. When the Rats are in the majority in the Senate, NONE of our legislation gets a vote, and the Rats call for one Congressional hearing after another on the evils of George Bush.
Well, let's wait and see what happens. We could end up being surprised. Maybe. Hopefully.

The Senate leadership is in control of the DEMOCRATS! FGS! I see it the same way. It is exasperating. I'm just willing to give Santorum more room than a MSM article does. The article my prove to be right, that the GOP Senate is bluffing. It wouldn't be the first time they called a bluff correctly.

I love the "letter" option. Just have 51 Senators sign a letter say "we consent to this nomination". Send it to the President. Have Bush say "works for me". And let the Dems take it to court. Either the courts uphold it or we have more ammunition with judicial activism.

Jane I'm tired of the wait and see stuff......we worked our butts off since 2002 to get the majority in both houses and this is how we are paid back..
They must be made to listen..and if it means I donate to a RAT to see some of these cowards booted from office.....so be it.

Great news. Here comes the Dem obstructionism, there go another few Dem Senate and House seats. Keep it up Dems, you're doing a fine job. Follow the script.

I wonder if the dems let her through now because the MI affirmative action case is now settled? As long as the Reps vote along party lines, the Dems cannot stop the nomination from coming out of committee. The Dems threaten a filibuster when it gets to the floor for an actual vote. The Dems haven't blinked yet.

I agree with you, this is just an attempt by the dems to try and avoid the "Nuclear Option." I hope they keep blinking.

No blinking going on, friend. Owens has come out of committee at least once already. I don't know what your source is talking about. Expound if you can.

Don't get me wrong but some day I long for Trent Lott as majority leader! How about someone, anyone, that just doesn't pee his pants when teddy kennedy looks at him?

Heh! That's very true. Moderates....blech! Wishy-washy pieces of milque toast.
