KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
Police said they arrested a man for spitting on Academy Award winning actress Jana Fonda during a book-signing stop in Kansas City Tuesday night.Fonda, 67, spoke at Unity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new book, "My Life So Far" and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-In-Law."
At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.
Thy said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.
Fonda declined to prosecute the man for allegedly spitting in her face.
Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.
That was a despicable thing to do. No matter how much we may hate Jane Fonda - and I sure as heck don't like her - no decent people would tolerate this kind of act. Period!
Weenies don't even CHAW terbacky.
Your logic escapes me. It is OK to urinate on her grave, but spitting on her is not appropriate. When she is in the ground, Fonda won't experience such gestures of contempt. Giving her a picture of a friend who died in Vietnam and lecturing her is another meaningless act, which has no real effect. I doubt if you could even get enough face time to do it and the picture would have been thrown into the garbage by her security detail.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Mr. Smith did express himself and for many like us the utter comtempt we have for this POS. It was a simple, direct gesture which inflicted no injury--just comtempt. Fonda got the message.
They did. She declined to press charges and the police cut him lose. He was on the radio this morning and sounded pretty bummed that he won't have a day in court.
"It is interesting you are so offended by spitting. You should be more offended by what Fonda did."
You have no idea how offended I am by Jane Fonda. But spitting is for girly-men and the mentally twisted.
Lame. He should've stood there and told her exactly why he spit in her face.
Maybe a NVA General can tell you.
I agree one hundred percent. Amen.
This just like the argument over changing the rules in the senate to respond to the deathrats riding roughshod over tradition to use the filibuster rules to block federal appeals court candidates. Does anyone really believe they would not change the rules to allow them to override a filibuster unless we did so first? I want some of what that person is smoking.
And regarding bodily fluids.... was it when the World Bank was meeting in SF, or when the President was there, can't remember, that the deathrats loaded up on milk and then went out and had themselves a puke-in. No kidding. A puke-in. When they ran out of ammo they'd go and drink some more. To get that nice rancid spraying effect. What's that compared to a little bit of spittle?
Hey Jane...what's that brown goo dripping off your nose?...oh well just sign my book and have a nice day....
Yes but it was HER decision, not the police. The pie-throwers were released without the permission of the victim.
I'm not judging him at all. I'm sure he felt he had to do that for years of anger and not being able to release it. I'm glad the *itch isn't pressing charges. Actually, it is smart of her to not do that. Thousands and thousands have truly earned the right to do what he did.
Why is this a gender issue? Is it OK for women to spit on her? It has nothing to do with girly men and the mentally twisted. Spitting on someone is a widely-practiced gesture of contempt around the globe and through history.
It is even in the Bible
Yeshua our kinsman-redeemer was subjected to the humiliation of being beaten and spat upon by those who mockingly said to him "prophesy to us Messiah, who hit you?" The people were awaiting a Messiah whom they thought would redeem them from Roman oppression, not from their slavery to sin. He was treated with the gesture of contempt reserved for one who was unwilling to redeem.(Ph. 2:7-8).
"...I really don't want our side doing that kind of stuff."
I do not consider this "man" on our side, do you? He might not like Fonda, but this behavior is just as disgusting as the pie-throwing lefties.
Again, I'll say it. He and others earned the right. I guess it is hyperbole. I wouldn't really urinate on someone's grave. And I certainly wouldn't spit in someone's face. I am glad he will not be charged, and I hope he was able to release his years of frustration and anger with the traitorous *itch.
I've been spittin on Jane Fonda,
I didn't like what she had to say,
I've been spittin on Jane Fonda,
for her talk in the Vietnam days
Rise up so early in the mornin,
Stand in line with a really big chew
Then when we are standin face to face,
I go ahead and let it spew.
As the young folks say, "what--ever." In today's world, spitting is for losers, geeks, wusses, dweebs, and latent homosexuals. If I'd seen this guy do what he did then run away like a girl, I'd have tripped him and held him until the cops came.
