they convicted and sent Martha Stewart to jail for the "crime" of "lying" to the FBI about a transaction that they didn't prosecute her for.

If Martha gets convicted for that then these snakes should be put to death.

(that's a joke, son)

Good wrap up. I found the comments about the secret testimony to the judge very interesting.

* Judith Miller :
More news on the NYT's Philip Shenon and Judith Miller: [snip] NY Times sues Justice Dep't over phone records First the Valerie Plame case, now a probe of an Islamic charity raid—the government just can’t get enough of New York Times reporter Judith Miller, only she doesn’t want to tell them anything. The paper yesterday sued the Justice Department in an effort to keep phone records for reporters Miller and Philip Shenon private. The paper was angered when Justice tried to obta[i]n the records, from the post-Sept. 11, 2001 period, directly from the phone company instead of the paper. The records are part of a Justice investigation into a raid on the Islamic charity Global Relief Fund. The government says that the reporters were tipped by a government source about the raid, a tip it believes was criminal. The Times insists that the reporters’ phone records should be kept private under reporters’ privilege.[/snip]-----NY Times sues Justice Dep't over phone records - MediaLifeMag (Sept 2004) 329 posted on 02/23/2005 8:17:20 AM PST by jriemer

These two scumbags are protecting a Democrat source.
If it was a Republican, they would have sang like canaries loooong ago.

The New York Times said there is something there when they thought they could nail Bush. Now there is nothing there when their reporters are on the hook to produce nothing.

Let the reporters prove their case. All they have to do is produce nothing, same as they insisted of Bush. This one has been fun to watch.

The only crime committed was that the taxpayers had to pay to send her incompetent husband to the Middle East so he could sip green mint tea around the pool.

The reporters have been asked to reveal the security analyst that was leaking information to them because it is suspected that the same analyst leaked information that was passed on to a terrorist support group that was about to be raided by the justice dept. In other words, the plan of attack on a conservative reporter that they hoped would spread to Karl Rove, boomeranged.
