Posted on 04/19/2005 11:07:48 AM PDT by ken5050

OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

This is making the College of Cardinals look good..

Maybe I am slow on the uptake, but it dawned on me today tha the College of Cardinals is a similar eleciton mechanism to the Electoral College. I wonder if the Founders were influenced by the Pope election method?

Thank you for your sanity---

So far on C-span 3, just Roll call reporters talking about upcoming legislation, no FRC meeting---

I wonder where Bolton is, pacing, waiting to YELL at the Senators? LOL

This divinely ordained appointment (of the Holy Father, not Bolton) is going to have an effect on the Left like shining a bright light on cockroaches. The appointment of Bolton is like using the "Bug Bomb" on them.

Once a quorum of Senators is present Frist can call for a recess. Once the Senate is in recess you do not need unanimous consent for committees to meet. Therefore the FR committee can meet and vote on Bolton.

No, the recess would be a good thing, then the FRC can vote on him.

The dems don't want a recess, thus no vote.

On Fox there was a priest talking to Chris Wallace, and he said he used to bring university students on tours to the Vatican, and Cardinal Ratzinger would always meet with them. He always knew what their names are, and which universtiy, Princeton, Michigan State, whatever...he knew.

He also said that he would often give directions to tourists looking to see where the papal residence was, and none of the tourists ever knew he was so important in the Vatican.

Apparently he is a humble, kind man who is very smart. I think it is an excellent choice.

I don't think Bolton has to be there for them to vote on him.

If "Aye" is bad for RATS, then how's come Reed, Kerry, Schumer voted "Aye"?

They are also describing him as the leading scholar in the Vatican as well. This is good. Very, very good.
