Dave Rountree says he was just trying to be a Good Samaritan when in February he ran over a gun-toting robbery suspect with his car.

But when the alleged thief, Christopher Hughes, ended up paralyzed from the waist down, Rountree said his life officially went to hell.

Rountree said Monday he is now being threatened with a lawsuit from Hughes, his marriage has crumbled and he's lost his job to boot.

"I was not prepared for what I saw," he said, shaking his head. "His foot was gone. "He was moaning," Rountree continued. "He did call me a few names.

I'll bet.

If a bad guy pointed a gun at me while standing in front of my car, I'd hit the accelerator too.

Rountree should file a teeth-rattling suit against the lawyer who filed the sh*t case against him for "capturing" the armed robber. If the case against Rountree, and the case against the robber's lawyer both go to a jury, my bet is that the juries will rule in favor of Rountree and against the lawyer.

And in that case, justice will definitely be served.

I wish I had some money. I would hire this guy the best attorneys in the world. If I were an employer, I would hire him. A guy who actually is trying to do the right thing. I would have done the same.
He must have hit the guy a good shot to rip his foot off. I might have "accidentally" dropped my keys down a sewer so I wouldn't have to pull the car off this loser. Leave him under there until the tow truck arrived.

They have the pictures backwards on their web posting of the story. The top picture is of an injured guy sitting in a courtroom. The bottom picture is of a guy standing outside. The captions say the opposite.

His (Rountree's) biggest mistake was that he didn't finish the job.

--I agree. And because of this, Rountree was not accused of any wrongdoing, and an analysis of Hughes' gun showed it was loaded with a bullet in the chamber, Clark County prosecutor Frank Coumou said., I suspect Rountree actually won't be sued--there are a couple of other cases here where suit was threatened but not filed--

Make sure the perp doesn't get up. After a weapon is pointed, you have a License to Kill.

Was this an honest mistake or an attempt to color the news? The paper has now contributed to the misfortune of this guy by putting his picture in the paper identified as the criminal.
