"Exit Strategy" for Liberals - (Colonel Robert L. Pappas' newest release)
CHRONWATCH.COM ^ | APRIL 19, 2005 | COLONEL ROBERT L. PAPPAS, USMC (Ret)

Posted on 04/18/2005 9:03:07 PM PDT by CHARLITE

The other day I entered a business establishment and overheard the following comments contained in a vitriolic, rabidly anti-American discussion. If I hadn’t known better I would have thought I was somewhere in “old Europe.”

“They only did it for the oil...they don’t have an exit strategy...I have kids who are Draft age... this is really a mess.”

If one hadn’t heard the same from Kerry (who was the other guy?) during the recent Democrat election debacle, the discussion might have come as a shock, but it didn’t. Still, it is incomprehensible that adult Americans, apart from blind stupidity or willful ignorance would be so utterly naïve. They must be listening to “Air America” or the mainstream media because their discussion and logic has no connection to reality.

Let’s see.

Oil. If the U.S. did it for the oil, it would seem that the world price for oil could be subjected to favorable pressure by increasing production in Iraq to offset cutbacks in production by Oil Producing and Exporting Countries (OPEC). Has that happened? Not quite, at least not at any fuel pumps visited by this writer in recent months.

They don’t have an exit strategy. Now there’s an overused and totally irrelevant phrase. Who the hell said there has to be an “exit strategy,” and if one is necessary what are some historic examples of “exit strategies?” Cuba? Long gone, which was probably a mistake. Philippines? Probably good timing. Germany, 60 years later the U.S. still has forces there. Japan, same story. And Korea, U.S. forces guard the 38th parallel some 52 years later. One “exit strategy” of which Americans can really be proud was Vietnam; one hell of an “exit strategy” that was. After all but breaking North Vietnam’s back, just ask the North Vietnamese, the U.S. walked away from its own ally and set the stage for millions to be slaughtered and additional millions to become refugees thanks to such “brilliant” leaders as “Teddy” Kennedy (and fledgling John Kerry). It is the utmost of ignorance, indeed stupidity to suggest that there must be an “exit strategy.” i.e. “Let’s tell the Muslim terrorists enemy the U.S. timetable for departure.”

I have kids who are of Draft age. So what? There is no Draft. This, despite the fact that U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel tried to re-institute it for the specific purpose of creating unrest among those of Draft aged, which would have a “trickle down/collateral damage” effect on their families. Then in a revealing action, Rangel voted against his own bill. Wow! What conviction! Now there is a man with “impeccable” integrity and real “cojones!”

Just a reminder, mid-east Muslims occupied large parts of Europe for 700 years. Does any “liberal” actually think that Muslims gave a “hoot” about an “exit strategy?” Did Muslims invade to liberate the countries they occupied from despots? “Liberals” please read the answer carefully, it’s complicated; NO! They did it to gain wealth, power, to set up an empire and to spread Islam, which dear reader, is precisely what such ignobles as Osama bin laden and his henchmen are trying to repeat. It is their version of a “crusade,” and is strikingly similar to their “Jihad” behavior for centuries.

But, if there must be an “exit strategy,” “liberals,” really do need to get their heads out of the dark place and the light of truth and reality would do wonders in alleviating their evident mental constipation.

The United States has stated, not once but repeatedly, that when Iraq is able to provide for its own security, the U.S. will withdraw its military forces. Additionally, the people of Iraq recently elected a government, which “liberals” in this country evidently do not want to acknowledge and have yet to digest. That government is in the process of sorting out how it will operate. In the meantime the U.S. is training Iraqi forces to defend against latter day, would be Saladin(s), who incidentally, Hussein fancied himself to be. In short, the U.S. will leave when the time is right, which may be sooner, or may be later. And “liberals” have the temerity to call the President “simple?”

Those pathetic, whining, “liberal” excuses for adult Americans have forgotten that 3000 Americans and others (probably including some illegal immigrants) died when New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C. were attacked by evil men whose guiding light was the Koran and whose goal was to be “martyred” (and thereby obtain gratification with 72 almond-eyed virgins). Undoubtedly the terrorists, including American “liberals” such as Professor Ward Churchill, Michael Moore-the-Corpulent, and other “usual suspects” would attack in a heartbeat if they could get away with it; and, alas, if the “mainstream media,” academia and Hollywood have anything to do with it, that too would be “our fault.” Thanks be to God that “liberals” of the present ilk were not around during W.W. I or W.W. II !!!

In the meantime those erstwhile sorry “liberals” are being protected by brave and patriotic men and women in uniform at the risk their own lives, whether the former deserve it or not.

Semper Fidelis

P.S. Oh, yes! The “real mess” is between their ears and it stinks.

Excellent article. All three of my sons are of draft age and I'd be proud to have one, two or all three of them serve if necessary. Good old American patriotism just ain't what it use to be.

There's a good chance that majority of those killed at the WTC were "liberals". Don't worry it will NEVER enter the minds of the other libs to consider this. So typical of the species, I'd reckon.

It's about time somebody told it like it is.

I'm so sick of hearing about an "exit strategy" too.

"exit strategy."

WIN!!!

We will not win by allowing these people to remain in their 8th century religious mentality. In Afganistan we are doing better at this than in Iraq where we are allowing the Shites to control the government.

In WW2 we had the Germans totally brainwashed with Nazism and the Japanese totally with whatever crap they were into. We changed those two societies with brutal force and it worked. This compassionate conservatism is junk. We are still mucking around with these scumbags 4 years after 9/11. Afghanistan and Iraq - two countries with no real military, just a bunch of ragtag militias with rpgs.

It took 4 years to beat Japan and Germany, which had thousands of tanks and planes and millions of men, and we are still playing with these punks. They are playing us like a fiddle. Time is on their side. They are building more and more nuclear weapons everyday in Pakistan and if they were our ally they would allow our troops in there, or send plenty to Iraq. Nope they are playing that fiddle.

I knew something was wrong when they called this the "War on Terror". Sounds too much like the "War on Drugs". And as a former participant in the WOD, its is starting to look like it too much. Lots of money and blood spent with no one wanting to conduct the war in a way that will bring about victory.

Nuke them before they Nuke US

"Nuke them before they Nuke US."

Sounds very politically incorrect.....but you're RIGHT. I've been waiting to hear someone say it LOUD AND CLEAR! What has happened to us since WWII? I agree with you totally. This isn't a nice game of lawn bowling! Europe is getting eaten alive with these rabid rodents, and - as you correctly point out - we're messing around with "punks with rpgs!"

We need old "Give 'em Hell Harry" who made the correct decision to end the War in the Pacific with two bombs. Period.

The problem now, though, is that we're at war with a sick ideology. It's like a deadly mental virus. You have to admit that there would be no specific target to "nuke!" Whom would we nuke - exactly?

Who would I nuke. Well on 9/11 I would have given Tehran Baghdad and Damascus 48 hours to evacuate. Then chosen one.

Now though it is more complicated. It is clear that Pakistan is harboring Osama and we are afraid to do anything because they have Nukes. They won't let our forces go into their mountains and they won't help us in Iraq. Pakistan is the only Muslim country with Nukes.

I would tie the continued existence of Pakistan, Iran, and Syria to the the continued existence of attacks against our Forces coming across their borders against us.

Everytime there was a bomb exploding in Iraq or Afghanistan there would be one less city in Damascus and Iran and Pakistan. Paks would probably go Nuke and so we would have to Preempt them with a huge Nuclear attack on Pakistan. Of course I would rather take out the Pak nukes in a clandestine or covert way but...

Nuke them before they Nuke US.

We need to disarm the Paks I hate to see millions die but the muslims will NOT hate to see millions of Americans die.
