Israelis lining up for Polish citizenship

By Joshua Mitnick THE WASHINGTON TIMES

TEL AVIV -- Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, the Polish Embassy building has become a site of pilgrimage for a growing tide of Israelis who are seeking to reclaim what under Polish law is their birthright.

Almost a year after Poland became part of the European Union last May, thousands of Israelis are eyeing the homeland of their parents and grandparents as a ticket to sharing in the prosperity of the new Europe.

Some just want the convenience of traveling on the Continent as an EU citizen. But others covet the economic and legal benefits to help them build careers and businesses.

For students, it could mean free tuition at internationally recognized universities. For businesspeople, citizenship means valuable access to a foreign market.

Polish Jewish immigrants streamed to Palestine before and after World War II, and more than 1 million Israelis could be eligible for Polish citizenship. But the bureaucracy is onerous.

They'll get the EU passport, but they won't go back to living in those little Polish towns.

"WTF is this !? Why the hell this kind of shit get citizenship !?"

because of their Polish language skills, perhaps.

As I recall the Polish university Jewish quotas, circa 1930's, were not language based.

I'm sorry that some dreams of a Judenrein Poland are being dashed. But perhaps the Polish people will demonstrate that they are indeed part of a new Europe.

"because of their Polish language skills, perhaps."

Language what ? Most of these people don't even know a damn word in Polish. They get citizenship because some their grand-grand-father lived in Poland, and because was a Jew - some Poles are so naive that they think Jews will stop spreading black PR about "Polish antisemitism" If they get these citizenship...

After reading this article I will do everything I can to stop this comedy.
I'm really not happy that Jews are being driven into the sea, but you will have to find another place for new settlement.

"We want to leave something for our kids," said Shoshana, who declined to give her last name. The member of kibbutz Ma'anit said she has been encouraging her parents to visit Poland for years, but to no avail. Bringing her parents to the embassy took a bit of convincing as well. "I am embarrassed that I need to ask for something like this," said Shoshana's father, who also refused to give his name. The resident of Hadera said that he spent most of World War II in Russia and then moved to Israel afterwards. "I've never been back. I know them, and they were worse than the Germans," he said.

And I am embarassed to listen to such useless crap. Thanks God this commie brainwashed senile considers us "worse than Germans". Maybe if he got into German hands during the war he would have changed his mind about the issue (sarcasm). I only hope his children and grandchildren will be wiser than their grandpa.

Yes, but I think that there shouldn't be many "Shoshana's fathers, residents of Hadera" who want to get Polish citizenship.

If NKVD service option confirmed their applications should be automatically sent to Russian embassy where they at least could be offered honorary Russian citizenship and some shiny medal.

The Polish people will demonstrate that they are indeed part of "new Europe" ?

They should demonstrate it giving citizenship to some worthless scum, which doesn't respect their nation, doesn't know their language and doesn't even want to live in their country ?

BTW Have the chosen people already squeezed $20 billion for "their stolen property" from a new Iraqi government ?

Good idea, but Rusistan is not a part of their beloved Eunuchistan. Isn't it strange that we hear every day that antisemitism is growing in "old Europe", but thousands of Jews want to live there ? Two options: These people are masochists or... black PR once again.

You should know well that it is "growing" depending where political pressure should be put on according to Jewish lobby's interests. It will "grow" in Poland too someday in relation to Jewish pre-war property - just wait and see.

"some worthless scum"

You have singlehandedly demonstrated where today's Poland stands on anti-Semitism. Hopefully you are a vast minority. Thank you for enlightening the forum.

"They get citizenship because some their grand-grand-father lived in Poland"

"Lived" in Poland? Interesting choice of word for citizenship. Who gets to be called a citizen in your book, non-Jews only?

"BTW Have the chosen people already squeezed $20 billion for "their stolen property" from a new Iraqi government ?"

I don't know? But how much have the Poles squeezed out of the US? You are part of NATO now are you not? I would imagine there are some US taxpayers who are Jewish.

I find it ironic that the comeback Jews who manage to recreate themselves wherever they go are being accused of sponging. The wealth the Jews lost in Europe is nothing compared to the death and destruction which is incompensable.

And the Jews were political idiots for not advertising their losses in Arab lands in the face of the Palestinian perpetual victimhood. More Jews were evicted from Arab lands than Palestinians many of whom voluntarily left. Do you know of any Jewish refugee camps?

Again thank you for making your position on Jews so clear. Out of the closet is always easier to address.

Yes, and I heard the Holocaust never really happened also.

What exactly do you mean by squeezing the USA by Poland? Sorry but I don't think you are using rational arguments here. Apart from that I would imagine there are 9 million of Polish Americans according to 2000 census. Some of them pay taxes too. So what??? Happy or not they also participate in huge financial help Israel gets each year.

1,200 Jews apply for passports in a year, and it brings out the conspiracy theories. Besides, they'll ruin the neighborhood. That's Europe.

I hear the little Polish villages have made big bucks over the years by commissioning Holocaust memorials. They raise money in the US and then build a memorial to the dead Jews that were shipped from their villages to Auschwitz, Treblinka, Sobibor and the many other camps that dotted the Polish landscape.

"Thank you for enlightening the forum."

Thanks, It's nice to know that I may educate you sometimes.

How the hell should I call people, who want to escape from their own country, because life there is not enough comfortable for them and what's more they don't want to respect "their" new country, don't know official language and... "they are embarrassed that they need to ask for something like this". (Something like this = Polish citizenship = dishonor for the chosen people ? Not enough kosher ?)
How the hell should I call them !? Heroes !?

""Lived" in Poland? Interesting choice of word for citizenship."

Learn some history, dude. Most of them were Russian citizens, who after 1918 were forced (Polish antisemitism I guess) to become Polish citizens.

"I don't know? But how much have the Poles squeezed out of the US? I would imagine there are some US taxpayers who are Jewish."

First of all only in Iraq we spent more than we ever got in military aid from US government, through NATO or directly, besides I'm sure that my uncles, cousins and other relatives, who live in US wouldn't be angry If a large part of their taxes wasn't spent on aid for Israel anymore.

"Again thank you for making your position on Jews so clear."

No problem.
