Hood ornaments are designed for riding on top of a car - kids are not.

You're kidding. I have seen movie stars riding on hoods, roofs and even car underbodies for miles and miles, through high speed chases, jumps over ramps --- you name it.

You would think if Hollywood stars can do it, the average teen could do it too. < / sarcasm >

It's just another one of many therepeutic positions for those people who are smart enough or dishonest enough to finagle a job feeding at the public trough.

We had a girl severely burned in a house fire when I was a senior in high school. The principal met with us for 15 minutes. That was that. We went to class. Everyone got through the day without bawling in one anothers' arms and making a scene for TV cameras that miraculously appear today.

Remember in the Rockford Files when Jim Rockford would put his Firebird in reverse doing about 25 to 30 mph and then crank the steering wheel to turn around and then slam it into gear and peel out? I almost took out a small group of friends attempting to do that once while they watched from the curb. Missed 'em by THAT much!

How do "grief counselors" get sent to schools so quickly when something awful happens? What, do they fall out of the sky? They seem to be sprinkled all over America.

The front page of this week's Indiana Business Journal has a fascinating graphic. over the past 15 years, Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) has lost 20% enrollment, and lost 9% of the teaching staff, but had gained 17% of "other" positions, including counselors, social workers, and administration.

A quote: Pritchett defended IPS' 69-to-1 ratio of students to administrators and other certified professionals--despite a 105-to-1 statewide figure--because of the urban district's increasingly needy population.
Less than half of the district's 589 non-teaching professionals are true administrators, he said. The rest are counselors, social workers, psychologists and the like.
All told, IPS employs nearly 6,000 people; 49 percent of them are teachers.

That's my problem with this story. You see your buddy fly forward, so you take your foot off the brake, or hit the gas? Also, what does it mean to have ellipsis inserted into a direct quote?
