But POTUS? Sorry, unlike a lot of Freepers my vote requires more than a cute smile or even worse, a fanatical appreciation of the Condi stare.

Rice would continue the Bush foreign policy. She has performed well has NSA and now SOS.

Why would you bring up Condi's cute smile and Condi's cold stare, yet you neglect to mention her foreign policy qualifications? A "fanatical" lapse perhaps...on your part.

Where....

As a presidential candidate and majority leader for sure. As for the 22 of Texas, that's up to them.

Add pro-choice and pro-affirmative action

No it isn't. Yes the poll is about pitting against Hillary, but it is NOT asking who you WANT it is asking who CAN WIN. I WANT someone like Bork, but I'm politically saavy enough to know that someone like Bork would get his ass handed to him in the primaries and don't even contemplate the general election. See WANT uis different than CAN WIN.

Ok, I'm new here, so please be kind. :). While I like Condi in general, for president, no, simply because she is pro-choice(we CANNOT give on this issue), she hasnt held elected office, and she is from California, a state she couldnt bring. Plus, she has clearly said she isnt running. I feel the same way on Giuliani. I respect him a lot for his actions on 9/11. But he is pro-choice(I think pro- partial birth abortion too) and pro-gay rights(he stayed with a gay couple during his divorce). And from what I've heard, too many skeletons in the closet. I would be happy with Allen, Santorum, Brownback, maybe Frist.

You sure are colorful. Of course ppl have a right to question qualifications, but it's unfortunate the questions are more of are we ready for a black president? More than are they qualified.

Her lack of experience holding an elected office is a huge drawback. Some could say that since she's never really been a politician, her act would be refreshing.

But for me, I don't think she's a serious candidate.

The '08 election is pivotal as to which direction the G.O.P. intends to take.
Will we honor, or dishonor, the achievements and vision RR laid down for us?

Because it would be fun to see her wipe the floor with the Hildebeast in an old-fashioned cat fight.

You're right but Hillary never ran for anything prior to becoming a Senator from New York. No small feat. I don't think holding an elected office would be an issue in a Rice/Clinton race. I do believe that Rice would take away enough of the African-American vote to sink Hillary regardless of how much voter fraud the Democrats were able to pull off.

Come on, that's not fair. Leading Stanford is quite an accomplishment. Do you know anything about the Hoover Insitute? It's famous for the forward-thinking and conservative views of its fellows; she was a senior there for years. Don't sell her short before you find out more about her life. She graduated from university at age 19, having started at 15.

Yes, Colin Powell was a temporay hero but he became a
willing accomplice of the intransigent State Dept.
bureaucracy and undermined Bush on Iraq (including by
permitting selective leaks). It is no accident that he
is now a darling of the Left. Condi Rice would not be the
worst nominee but she's certainly not the best. Frankly,
the Republicans are so anxious to chip away at the black
vote some would nominate Sharpton if he called himself
conservative. The exception is Bush -- he's willing to
submit to a foreign invasion of illegals for the Hispanic
vote. When does this nonsense end? Have we conservatives
become a bunch of trendy teeny boppers looking for the
next "pop" politician?

I think her polling high here indicates her potential as a dark horse. It's amazing to see FR getting behind her, and I think if she can stump well, it will be very hard for the left to effectively criticize her.

Senator George Allen is cut of the same cloth as President Reagan. He is pro-life, religious, believes in accountability, judges that rule on the law not make the law, do the crime serve the "complete" time, pro-defense, conservative, articulate, witty, and loves football!

They are in danger of losing their base if they continue to pander to minority issues.

Oh, please. Here we go again.

The subject here is Condi. What issues are there to lie at the feet of "pandering" in this subject?

Lots of folks run for Senator as their first office and win, President is a different matter. And now that Hillary has that all important first win it's a non-issue for her. I don't think Condi would take a significant portion of the black vote, problem with the black voting block is that they believe strongly in the "uncle tom" concept, Condi has already been quite effectively given that brand, which makes her not black as far as they're concerned, and therefore she offers no inspiration to switch parties.

I know, I know. I was just having fun pointing out that what college you graduate from doesn't necessarily make you Presidential Material.

I think an Allen/Watts ticket would also be hard to beat. I'd like to see it. One would be hard-pressed to challenge their conservative credentials.
