DCF: Terri Schiavo Not Abused, Exploited
State Agency: Terri Schiavo Was Not Abused or Exploited by Either Side of Her Family
By VICKIE CHACHERE
The Associated Press
Apr. 16, 2005 - State investigators found no evidence that Terri Schiavo had been abused or exploited by either side of her family, according to documents released by Florida's Department of Children and Families.
The agency investigated 89 complaints dating back to 2001, when Schiavo's feeding tube was removed for the first time and the legal battle surrounding her right-to-die case intensified.
The calls alleged that the brain-damaged woman was being mistreated by her husband and her parents for financial gain. One complaint alleged that Schiavo's parents were selling videos of her through a Web site; another said Schiavo's husband wasn't spending money intended for her rehabilitation.
But investigators said they found no evidence that either her husband or parents were exploiting her, and often noted in their records that they found Schiavo well cared for on their visits to her Pinellas Park hospice.
The agency released the records Friday under court order.
Schiavo, 41, died last month after her feeding tube was removed for the third time, ending a bitter court battle between her husband, Michael Schiavo, and parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, over whether she would have wanted to live in a vegetative state.
The repeated allegations of abuse were based partly on bone scans showing Terri Schiavo suffered fractures and statements she made to family and friends that she was unhappy in her marriage.
Schiavo's husband has denied harming his wife. His lawyer said the fractures resulted from osteoporosis caused by the woman's years of immobility and complications of her medication.
Robert Schindler declined to comment there on the release of the DCF documents. An attorney for Michael Schiavo did not immediately return calls.

Thats a cute story about your grandmother...it is true, the older we get, the more precious life becomes, because we realize we are closer to the end, than we are to the beginning...

you know what - your statements have many holes.
Also, Terri's statement was made to MS and others? Why didn't you include who the 'others' are?
Her statement was "supposedly" said to MS and others. And the others are?....his brother and sister-in-law. A little bit too tidy for me when an innocent life hung in the balance.
You know what? I choose NOT to believe MS and what he says he supposedly heard. Is that all right with you? Just for starters, for some reason, 'when is the bitch going to die' doesn't sit right with me.
Instead of rehashing any more w/you, I will continue reading post #282. No hard feelings, I hope. I think I may find it to be more credible than your 'write up' all tied up nicely with omissions for a cause. I can sit in my easy chair and watch CNN if I want that.

Now it's Terri's fault she was killed because she didn't marry the right person?
LOL!!!!!!
To: presently no screen name
Inadvertantly, yes.
Just as Schiavo is now a widower, because he married a woman who died before he did.

Thanks. That what I thought - she was an adult. Greer lives by - if you can't convince them, confuse them. however, he was successful in his endeavor because some are certainly confused and march to his beat.
To: KDD
Do you think contemporaneous remarks, testified to by only one side in a contested family dispute, are clear and convincing evidence? And I wonder, based on what was the court "convinced" that Greer did not rely heavily on the expert witness, even though he ends his ruling by citing her testimony? But my favorite part of the opinion you quoted from was the court's denial of the request that a guardian ad litem be appointed.
Although we do not rule out the occasional need for a guardian in this type of proceeding, a guardian ad litem would tend to duplicate the function of the judge, would add little of value to this process, and might cause the process to be influenced by hearsay
The whole outcome was based on hearsay.

There was plenty of food all over the hospice. All Terri had to do ws get up and get some.
You know what, you are right but unfortunately that could never happen - she was denied therapy that she needed to be able to do. She was awarded money for care but, gosh darn, her loving husband just spent it on his needs and desires.
Remember to say that statement to someone you love if they ever become disabled or just too sick w/the flu to get out of bed for a drink. Or worse yet, wouldn't it be terrible if you reap what you sow. You will have to stay in bed hungry and thirsty while you smell delicious food being cooked and you can't get up and get any.

Your statements are not congruent with mine. Someone disabled or sick would care about missing out on food and drink. Terri had no working brain. She didn't care one way or the other.

The Schindler's paid for her therapy before the money came in. When money came in, the parents asked MS to continue her therapy like he said he would do in court, but that was not in MS's plan. They asked to recoup some of the money from her previous therapy they paid for. They got nothing and he lived rent free from them.
To: Pan_Yans Wife
She is dead because she married the wrong person.
So it is her fault? Where do you get your logic?
And Schiavo is now a widower, because he married a woman who died before he did. LOL more of your logic!
I suppose MS is also a 'grieving' widower. Gee, how long do you think he will grieve before he takes up with another woman and has some children?
He married a woman, and then he had her put to death - that is how it happened. She didn't died of natural causes.
To: Dont Mention the War
Terri had no working brain.
Really? Where did you hear that from?
She was disabled with no therapy for years. They have intensive therapy for disabled people - not people with no working brain. She had therapy in the early years and it was stopped.
To: presently no screen name
Of course at the very beginning its her fault. It is a woman's duty to pick the right spouse, or she may endanger her own life and that of her children. This is no different than saying, "She never should have married him."

Mental, abuse is lying in a bed 24 hrs a day staring at the ceiling while watching your loved ones suffer for you.
If you were cogent enough to think at all.

Presuming this is a fact -- and if you can prove it is, I urge you to cite a source -- Wolfson Report ordered by Jeb Bush
I'll post it(22nd time) but you will have to tear yourself away from terri.org to read it. The facts seem to matter little to those who would have insisted on torturing her by force feeding her for however long they could have kept her breathing.
BTW, the Schindlers also said that if infection necessitated amputation of all her limbs that they would be prepared to do so AND then perform open heart surgery on her to keep her alive...all this even if they knew doing so would be against her wishes.

I suggest you take any evidence you have that Michael tried to kill Terri to the police immediately.
They can file it with the rest of the bullshit reports they received. This story is about all those BS reports in case you didnt notice.
To: txrangerette
The only two doctors who ever said she had a chance of recovery who actually examined Terri, vs. internet doctors, were alternative medicine doctors who were thoroughly discredited at trial.
Had her parents chosen two mainstream doctors who said they believed she could get better with care, the entire matter would have been handled differently, imo. But it's probable they couldn't find any two doctors who would say such a thing under oath.

No one said that's what it's going to do to them, but they aren't going to want to relate or necessarily even vote with what they consider the radical fringe of the Republican party.
