Jews Stand Behind DeLay

He may be under attack by a phalanx of left-wing groups, mostly financed by billionaire George Soros, but House Minority Leader is backed to the hilt by Soros' fellow Jews.

And they have good reasons for backing the embattled Republican.

DeLay is one of Israel's most stalwart supporters in Congress.

"DeLay is arguably the best friend Israel has in Congress," Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, which adamantly opposes the creation of a Palestinian state told the Jewish weekly Forward. "He's not simply a guy who you go for help. He gets other guys to help. A guy like DeLay will call you [to ask] what can he do."

Added Republican activist Jeff Ballabon, head of the conservative Center for Jewish Values, "DeLay's concern for Jewish survival and his active friendship for Israel are deep and personal," Ballabon told the Forward. "They existed long before the Oslo terror war and long before Jewish organizations or fundraisers ever discovered him. Those in the Jewish community who have come to appreciate the depth and magnitude of his friendship ought to stand with him now."

According to the Forward, "Jews have figured prominently in DeLay's defense — both as advocates and whipping boys. In Congress, Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, an observant Jew who is the House Republicans' chief deputy majority whip, has been key in spearheading the GOP pushback on DeLay. The Republican strategy has been to blame DeLay's problems on the "liberal media" and the Hungarian-born Jewish billionaire financier George Soros."

"Tom DeLay has been the staunchest defender of Israel in Congress today. He has been an extremely effective leader on the House floor," Cantor told to the Forward.

"Congressional Democrats and their billionaire liberal allies like George Soros can't accept that he beats them at the ballot box and on the House floor. I think it is becoming apparent to

the American people that these attacks are not about Tom DeLay. They are about Democrats using any means necessary to regain the majority."

Soros role in masterminding and funding the smear DeLay campaign was also reported in the new Washington Examiner newspaper.

Writing in the Examiner Richard Lessner, executive director of the American Conservative Union charged "The campaign to 'demonize DeLay' is engineered by a cabal of leftist interest groups allied with the Democratic Nation Committee and House Democrats. The campaign is funded by the Democrats' Daddy Warbucks, billionaire George Soros."

According to Lessner, Soros, "frustrated in his inability to defeat President Bush, has conspired with the DNC and the House Dems to defeat the Bush agenda by destroying Tom DeLay. These conspirators believe that they can 'Newter' Tom DeLay the way they did Newt Gingrich in the late 1990s, thereby stopping the progress of a conservative Bush agenda and setting up the Democrats to retake control of Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008."

Congressman Jim McDermott (Moonbat-Seattle), a.k.a. Baghdad Bob, who disgracefully aligned himself with Saddam Hussein and against the US in the run-up to the Iraq War, and was recently given a public official of the year award by radical Islamic front group CAIR, now has his own Daily Kos diary.

Since Congressman McDermott is using Daily Kos to opine on “ethics,” it’s very interesting to note this report at Beltway Buzz. (Hat tip: Axiom.)

DeLay notes that liberal House member Jim McDermott is also under investigation and would likely be removed from office if the Ethics committee convened. McDermott was found guilty of leaking illegally taped phone conversations to the New York Times of a Republican’s cell-phone conversations. DeLay said, “One of their best friends, [Rep.] Jim McDermott, is being investigated, and they don’t want him to be kicked out of Congress I mean, this guy has been found guilty — guilty by a court of law — and they don’t want an ethics committee.”

Delay is a stand-up guy, understands the importance of tight moral guidelines in maintaining the health and strength of America, and does not get intimidated by a hostile media.

A true conservative leader, he needs our support now more than ever.
