Woman says illegal tried to run her off road with vehicle
By Bill Hess
Herald/Review
SIERRA VISTA -- A local woman says an illegal immigrant driving a vehicle tried to force her off a road earlier this week.
And she has asked Cochise County authorities to press charges.
The woman, who asked that her name not be used, said she was nearly driven off Hereford Road by someone who was transporting other illegals.
Cochise County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carol Capas said the woman filed a complaint about the incident.
The woman followed the driver of the vehicle, who allegedly tried to force her off the road, leading sheriff's deputies to the place where the driver, identified ad Oscar Perez, stopped.
"He pushed us off the road," the woman said, saying Perez ignored stop signs while he was driving.
Perez, who was identified as an illegal immigrant, was cited with driving without a license and reckless driving. The other four in the vehicle were also identified as illegal immigrants. The vehicle, which had Arizona plates and was registered to a person in Nogales, Ariz., was seized by the Border Patrol.
Capas said the woman wanted Perez and the others cited for assault -- the driver for the way he drove, and the other four for hiring him to illegally transport them in the United States.
The woman's allegation and a report have been forwarded to the Cochise County Attorney's Office for a decision if assault charges will be made.
However, the issue may be moot because the driver and the four others were turned over to the Border Patrol and returned to Mexico.
The driver's name has been placed in the federal criminal system. If he is found in the United States, he will be arrested and any charges against him will be prosecuted by federal and local authorities, a Border Patrol spokesman said.
Here's my report on this same incident posted in a thread earlier this week:
A violent human trafficker ran unfairly banned FReeper idratherbepainting off the road yesterday near our houses. She and her husband were driving on the road when they saw two load vehicles pulled over to the side of the road loading up criminal invaders who were coming out of a field. Across the road was a regular elementary school bus stop, but it was later in the day so no kids were there at the precise moment. They slowed so that they could observe and get the license plate numbers of the vehicles. idratherbepainting hith Border Patrol on the speed dial of her cell phone. The violent human trafficker in one of the trucks saw her and recognized what she was doing. He looked angrily at her and put his truck in gear. He then ran idratherbepainting's truck off the road. He turned his vehicle around and then headed straight at them. They thought they were going to be hit head on. They swerved at the last second and a collision was averted.
It was obvious that the violent human trafficker wanted to ram idratherbepainting's truck. She was screaming on the phone with Border Patrol the whole time. The vehicles sped off to the West and then turned North. Sheriff's deputies intercepted the vehicle that had tried to ram them, but not the other truck. They had them on the ground in handcuffs. idratherbepainting told the Sheriff's office that she wanted to file charges. The deputies wrote up the incident and turned the violent human trafficker and his cargo over to Border Patrol.
Today it was learned that the Sheriff refused to file any charges except for reckless driving despite the fact that the violent human trafficker had committed a greater crime. It was also learned that the Border Patrol had released the violent human trafficker and his cargo back into Mexico.

The only thing wrong with that is that she didn't open fire with her sidearm (she *was* carrying, right) when it became obvious that this guy was intent on attempted vehicular homicide. Even a 9mm pistol can wreak havoc on a car and driver.
Knock it off. While criminal invaders should be dealt with harshly, the idea of shooting them on sight is insane. Such extreme statements hurt the border security/immigration reform.
So if an army marches across our border, terrorizing and killing American citizens, we should... what? Arrest them?
Here's to hoping she learned a valuable lesson from this experience.
A gun in the hand beats a cop on the phone every single time.
L
She carries a .38. There was no time to draw against the driver. But, if she had we would be hearing a similar story to what happened to the Army reservist in Gila Bend the other day who pulled his gun on 7 criminal invaders.
I missed that story, what happened (keeping in mind that the Army guy is bound by different laws than civvies)?
I agree. When it became obvious that she was under direct assault, she should have dropped the phone and opened fire. She's lucky to be alive - remember that the cops are, at best, a cleanup squad.
So does this mean that the first attempted murder by an illegal alien is a freebie?
Look, we're both on the same side on this issue so don't get me wrong. Yes, if an army marched across the border killing American citizens then we would be justified in slaughtering them. No one is justified to start shooting illegal aliens unless actually threatened with bodily harm. This woman showed a great deal of restraint which was wise because if she had started shooting the news coming out of Cochise County would be very negative and she'd likely be in jail. As you can see, she was not harmed so for her to have started shooting would have been wrong. She didn't know that she wouldn't be harmed, but she took that chance and was right to not shoot.
Obviously...
I disagree. If she'd shot the guy, there would have been *no* news coming out of the county. The MSM would bury the justifiable shooting story so deep you'd have to pipe in daylight to it. See the Tyler Courthouse Shooting for a recent example...
Why was he/she banned?
I disagree. The MSM would have said she was an evil vigilante, connected it to the Minuteman Project somehow, and it would create such a circus that it would be difficult to seat an unbiased jury. She did the right thing.
About a month or so ago there was a bunch of FReepers purged for no good reason. Basically, if you used Minuteman and Project in the same sentence you were shown the door. Things have changed somewhat, but those unfairly banned have not been reinstated.
Serve them tea! And I have these lovely cookies I just baked this afternoon. /sarcasm
