The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Details show extent of terror plot against U.S.
Full Story

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

You're thinking of Daleel Almojahid. Blast from the past.

He was going off to war if I recall correctly. Perhaps he truly was "blasted" into the past :-)

Diverted Flight From Italy Finally Lands In Boston
Aircraft Took Off From Milan

POSTED: 11:43 am EDT May 17, 2005
UPDATED: 3:54 pm EDT May 17, 2005

BOSTON -- For the second time in a week, an international flight headed for Boston was diverted to Bangor, Maine, because a passenger's name matches one on the government's no-fly list.

Alitalia Flight 618 (pictured, left) was scheduled to land at Boston's Logan International Airport at 1:10 p.m. EDT. Instead, it landed about 20 minutes earlier at the Bangor International Airport and finally got to Boston about 2:45 p.m. EDT.

Officials diverted the Boeing 767 after Algerian national Abdelkrim Bechnamadauchi's name and birth date appeared on the no-fly list, reported Boston television station WCVB.

He had in the past been the subject of an FBI Full Field Investigation, the station said, meaning he had a case folder opened on him, which has subsequently been closed, sources said. He is no longer the target of an FBI investigation, but under federal guidelines for terror investigations, a full case must be opened before any extensive checking outside of law enforcement databases can begin.

Bechnamadauchi and his bag were removed from the plane, and the aircraft continued to Boston, according to Ann Davis, of the TSA.

There was no indication of unusual activity on the flight, however Canadian jets and two American F15 Eagles from Otis Air National Guard base on Cape Cod escorted the plan to Maine, where it was met by federal law enforcement officials, WCVB reported.

The Alitalia flight originated in Milan.

"Scholars condemn suicide bombings"
By Shahid Malik
BBC News, Lahore

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Pakistani prime minister survived a suicide attack in 2004
Leading Islamic scholars in Pakistan have issued a decree against suicide attacks, describing them as forbidden if carried out in a Muslim country.
The decree has been authorised by 58 religious leaders, representing all schools of Islamic thought in Pakistan including the minority Shia community.

The move is an attempt to stop suicide bombers carrying out attacks on places of worship in Pakistan.

But the decree does not apply to bombings in Kashmir or Palestine.

Leading Islamic scholar Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman told the BBC the decree had been issued because attacks on places of worship in Pakistan have been blamed on suicide bombers in recent years.

Many men are indoctrinated by radical clerics, the government says

He said that the proclamation did not apply to "ongoing struggles" in Kashmir and Palestine."

Hi Judith,
This article from The Houston Business Journal doesn't mention anything about parasites but says that the straw might carry diseases...I wonder if this is the ship that the Coast Guard intercepted and escorted to a US port last week from the mid-Alantic...

You know Cindy, that's an extremely relevant point. You can't help but wonder what "free speech" equivocates to handcuffs and jail time when some of the speech we hear almost daily from those protected by CAIR and the ACLU is downright slanderous, if not treasonous toward our country and its leaders.

I dug and dug for information on Abdelkrim Bechnamadauchi (he who should buy a few more vowels).

You would think that if he had been the subject of an FBI Full Field Investigation in the past there would be something out there about him, but I couldn't find a thing. Odd.
