Well, f'Petessake, why do you think they call it a "sports bar?"
And don't even TRY to ask for "sweet tea"
They just put sugar in the room temp tea. Uncivilized I tell ya.
Oh don't get me started on what has been done to tea up there! It's an art...
Brewed, not instant---or worse, that horrid liquid concentrate--eeesh.
Lots of sugar mixed in while it is still warm.
Served with lots of ice and just enough lemon to make you almost pucker. :)
But I don't believe it's anything to chuckle about. You have very dark humor.
"Too Much Water Can Be Deadly"
Yeah, it's called DROWNING. Idiots!!
Note: All substances on earth on toxic. It's only a matter of dosage.
Hmmm...I wonder what's behind this story? So MARATHON runners can get hurt or die from drinking too much water.
How does that affect the other 99.9% of the population?
Here is the safety data sheet from a chemical supply company for high purity water. Water does have potential toxicity if ingested. And all this paperwork is legally mandated by the DOT and OSHA if you want to transport it as a bulk chemical.

this is what I have heard too but I also agree with Hamilton Jay, I think if you are running a race, you don't guzzle down a bottle at each station, you take a few gulps here and there because from my recollection of running in my youth, any food or liquids in my stomach was a negative, so you'd be better off taking small gulps but more frequently
having been in extreme heat, in Australian outback and the Caribbean, and not even really moving much, you really do need water or just any liquid frequently if you want to avoid heat stroke
of course many people don't realize that water with barley and hops aka beer is actually more dehydrating, alcohol is dehydrating, that is part of the reason for the dreaded hangover, but man nothing quenches the thirst better on a hot day eh than a real cold beer
one night in university, we tried this experiment - ordered a pitcher of water to go with each pitcher of beer, yeah lots of trips to the bathroom but you definitely feel better the next day.....
Why people are resistant to information is beyond me. They can digest it, judge it's merits and then absorb it or discard it as they please.
The Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) has announced the discovery of a new firefighting agent to add to their existing range. Known as WATER (Wonderful And Total Extinguishing Resource). It augments, rather than replaces, existing agents.
Just one problem is this. The Friends of the World (FOTW) has obtained a sample of WATER and found it caused clothes to shrink. If it did this to cotton, what would it do to men? Also, extended exposure to WATER can lead to death by drowning!
Someone alert the EPA!

Ban water now! Second hand water is disgusting and makes my clothes stink, I always have to take a shower after being exposed to someone else's second hand water.

I agree. I spent several years in the tropics...that's how I developed my "sipping" approach, lol.
PT under those conditions are killer, and you've got to stay hydrated. BAD JU-JU when you're flushed and not sweating!! Drink too much before or during running, and you're liable to end up puking on the side of the road, making a spectacle of yourself. Drinking judiciously keeps the cramps away, too, and heatstroke is no joke.
Water and beer...good combo on a hot day, heh heh. :)
Second hand water on a hot rock is really offensive!
well I think what the health professionals are saying is people forget to count their other liquids as part of that 8-10 glasses a day, your milk in your cereal, your coffee and juice etc....
I live in a city where they put so much chlorine and fluoride in the water, it has a yellowish tinge, then again e coli is deadly, we're downstream from another major city if you know what I mean
and there are some weird cancers affecting people rather young round here, I seem to recall there was a study done and our city is outside the norm, ye old cancer clusters
I'm exposed to it several times a day, much more frequently than second hand food!
You are a hoot!!!!!!!!!!
I can't tell if you're being facetious, but just in case you're not, this isn't about drowning (which is essentially death by asphyxia). It's about an electrolyte imbalance caused by a dilution of the salt content in the body. Totally different phenomena than drowning.
This thread is crying out for ~that~ graphic.
The only time you need to watch your hydration level is in an area where there is a "dry heat". You might not notice how much you are losing. But once again, don't go crazy with it.
Your body will usually tell you when it's time to hydrate.
