BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- A trio of animal-rights protesters didn't find any welcome mat when they stopped at a KFC, but the restaurant manager did turn on the sprinkler system for them.

Manager John Olivo turned the sprinklers on full blast to soak the protesters from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals who were standing by the curb. They were campaigning for more humane methods of killing.

The protesters, including one in a chicken suit, were followed by a man with a microphone who said he eats beef

Having six pet chickens, lots of these little sayings have become clear to me...like "chicken scratch" handwriting and being "cooped up" (chickens don't like it and will raise a fuss if they're used to running around) and "flew the coop" (that's what they do when you finally let them out of the coop...fly for a few feet, they're so happy.) Being cooped up really must be uncomfortable for them, because they like getting out so much!

But mad as a wet hen is still a mystery to me. My poor chickens will just stand out in the rain wondering what on earth is happening to them. They look down, depressed and confused. I literally gotta go out there with a piece of bread and coax them back to their coop so they'll stay dry! Heh heh!! They're so funny.

"It's a rarity that we get this," he said after being doused by the sprinklers.

Get what?? A shower??? Most protestors look like they need a good hosing off and scrub down w/ a big soapy brush!!!

The Colonel would have been proud.

Indeed, especially after the way PETA has depicted him, torturing a live chicken with a large knife, chicken blood splattered all over his white linen suit. Yeah, I can just see him sitting on a porch swing, sipping a mint julep, chuckling with righteous glee at this manager's clever reponse to the PETA numbskulls.

The PETA folks think the posters and stickers at www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com are soooo clever, but all they do is make me laugh. They also remind me that there's a KFC nearby. Mmmm, Original Recipe. :-)

Too bad there isn't an easy way to add soap to the sprinkler system...

Thats why PETA is great (wink wink). They always give great reminders of where to eat lunch. They are really so harmless. I make it a point whenever I hear of a PETA protest of a fast food joint to patronize the nearest location. There is a KFC about 5 miles away. YUM!

It's a good thing for the PETArds that the
owner didn't sic his guard-cock after them:

The Soil and Water Conservation Society will protest next.

This PETA item reminds me:

It's time to order a couple of cases of chicken from AgriProcessors.

My dad got some in the butt when he jumped a fence to steal some farmer's apples. This was in Poland a long time ago. He said he spent the day in a river soaking his wounds. 8-)

And let's hope there is no local water conservation order in effect, or the local KFC branch will be in trouble there too.

No doubt some of the PETA types will sue in civil court, claiming various assorted personal injuries and other harm as a result of this incident. Might even try to run the KFC franchise out of business.

IMHO, PETA and ELF are a bunch of terrorists.
