CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Ending poverty is perhaps the single largest issue facing the nation, former Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards said Wednesday.
"We must end poverty in America because the content of our country's character is at stake," Edwards said at a forum sponsored by Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Thirty-six million Americans live in poverty, Edwards said, and the private sector as well as the government has a responsibility to address it.
He said it was wrong that large corporations paid their CEOs millions of dollars while paying thousands of workers $7 per hour.
Edwards said the Bush administration's tax cuts for people earning more than $400,000 a year cost the country revenue that could be used to help the poor.

I believe it is wrong that an elitist coward involved in the drowning death of an innocent young lady should be allowed to be elected to the Senate term after term after term.

John, don't you read your Bible?
"The poor you shall always have with you"
--Jesus the Christ
So I don't think we are ever going to end poverty.

Ending poverty is perhaps the single largest issue facing the nation, former Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards said Wednesday. The breck girl is showing us once again why he couldn't defeat John Kerry in the primaries. He has jumped to the forefront of an issue that is of interest to nobody except people who don't vote. Good one John.

Whoops! You know what they say about assuming. Gotta go clean the egg off. lol

Maybe he should take care of the illegal problem before he starts whining and demagoguing about poverty. Illegals are the core cause of a lot of poverty.

What about the other elitist coward from the same state who probably wasn't even eligible to run for the Senate, aided and abetted the enemy while still in the Navy, probably got a dishonorable discharge but will not release his military records, Claims a Silver Star on an action report he wrote himself and the Sec. of the Navy says he never saw nor signed, who got two mysterious Purple Hearts, and is still in the Senate after 20 years?

He said it was wrong that large corporations paid their CEOs millions of dollars while paying thousands of workers $7 per hour. But he doesn't see anything wrong with lawyers making millions while paying their flunkies $7 an hour.

He said it was wrong that large corporations paid their CEOs millions of dollars while paying thousands of workers $7 per hour.
But of course there's nothing wrong with the millions of dollars he made as an attorney... Does he really think most voters are $7/hr wage slaves who will flock to anyone promising to make the rich pay more? His experience with the common man seems to be limited to jurors specifically picked for their gullibility.

wrong that large corporations paid their CEOs millions of dollars while paying thousands of workers $7 per hour I'm curious how much Edwards paid his office cleaning staff while he raked in his extorsion money, I mean, malpractice awards.

"There are many things wrong with Edwards but lets stick to the facts shall we?"
You're right. Texas_Jarhead put the "Cambridge, MA" together with Edward(s) and thought that this is about Edward M. Kennedy. Must re-read, dear Jarhead!
