MURDER BY MARBURG ??
During my 71 years on this earth,I've seen the "unthinkable" become almost commonplace: wars ,bombings of civilian populations,famines,and genocide: lots and lots of genocide .
In Angola,a growing body of evidence suggests the recent lethal outbreak of Marburg (an Ebola - like disease) may have been triggered - deliberately and cold-bloodedly- by injecting children with vaccine,contaminated by this killer virus.
I had recently exchanged correspondence with a noted virologist;suggesting the disease might have been brought home to the infected children by diamond miners,who had been exposed to meat or excrement from infected monkeys,but my correspondent pointed something out:
Most of the 95 persons first infected were children under the age of 5; and most of this group were under the age of 1.
None of the mothers of these children was infected.This suggests,very strongly,
All of those infected had been infected as a result of immunization shots of some sort.
This was why my correspondent thought contaminated needles might have been in use,but the question remains: Where did the contamination come from ?
The last Marburg eruption in this area was at least 3 years ago,and involved a group of 60 "independent" gold miners,who had been working in a cave...without government sanction.That outbreak was thought odd,and has never really been explained.
Marburg virus can live in blood samples for 3-4 weeks,but there is no literature to suggest it can survive 3-4 years - unless deliberately cultured,and kept as a living specimen.
Why would anyone deliberately inject lethal virus into children ?
Let's look at the Angola political situation again.
In the extreme north is a province called Cabinda. Cabinda is separated from the rest of Angola by the Congo (DPRC) in much the same way Alaska is separated from the United States by Canada. Call it an "accident of colonization" if you will.
Cabinda-separated or not-is endowed with huge deposits of "sweet" low-sulphur oil that is being sold to several countries by large petro-consortiums.(Texaco is one.)
Angola has mismanaged its other mineral wealth (diamonds,gold,iron,copper,bauxite,phosphates,feldspar,and uranium) and desperately needs to hang on to Cabinda.
Enter the Rebels: Two organizations, FLEC and FAC, both of which support independence for Cabinda,have recently joined forces,and have been conducting guerilla operations inside Angola-especially near Uige Province,where diamonds are available,the population is dirt-poor,and dislike of the "strong" (Stalinist might be a better term) Angolan government is high.
Coincidentally,this same Uige Province is where the Marburg outbreak began.
Infecting the children of this rebellious population would cause enormous fear:motivating many of the tribes to flee the area.It would also have the cold-blooded advantage of infecting upwards; ie: when children are sick,they require adult care,and Marburg - like Ebola - is notorious for infecting family members and other care-givers.
If this is what has happened here,we are looking at genocide - once again .

Could have happened.
But since we don't know the natural reservoir for this disease, Occam's Razor indicates that the kids got it from some natural source and not some nefarious scientist passing out infected vaccines.

One of the first Ebola outbreaks was spread by clinics using the same needles over and over, because they didn't have adequate supplies.
No one knows where any of the Ebola or Marburg outbreaks has come from, because we have never been able to identify it's non-human vector or resevoir of infection.
Every outbreak has been a complete mystery.

And if you wanted to kill your neighbor, you'd probably think twice before giving him Ebola since you live on the same block. That's kind of like calling in a nuclear strike when you're under sniper fire.

Not true. The first outbreak in Marburg was traced to green monkeys imported from Africa. No mystery there.
Interesting. Certainly plausible with the Marxist, Stalinist-style government running things there.
I see two possibilities: these kids living in Africa came into contact with monkeys living in Africa.
OR
A nefarious scientist infected a batch of vaccines, in an effort to unleash a biological holocaust on the people next door, so that their mineral resources could be seized.
I'm going with Option 1.
An extremely well thought out theory, IMHO.
Some may scoff at the notion of children being deliberately infected with Marburg (or any deadly virus) but we have to remember two things:
First, on that sad African subcontinent, life is considered cheap by the thugs and goons who rule too many places with an evil hand.
The second thing is that in this new century of terrorism we face, we have to 'think the unthinkable' when it comes to the possible threats which could be employed against us. Your theory reinforces my own concerns about Americans undergoing immunization with vaccines which may NOT be manufactured in the U.S. The security risk is simply too high, in my view.
I would suggest sending a copy of your theory to the CIA and/or FBI for their consideration. (please, no jeers, I know that's a long shot, but hey - I'd like to THINK that Porter Goss is making some changes over there in Langley, eh?)

I agree with the invoking of Occam's Razor.
As always the case with a good conspiracy theory, it can never be proven wrong, no matter how outrageous.
The Green Monkeys were an intermediate source, not the primary one. Since green monkeys do not normally have marburg, where did they get it?
The only disease we have encountered without a non-human vector is smallpox, which is why it could be eliminated.
If no one has smallpox, no one can get smallpox, but the hemorhagic fevers keep popping up 'out of nowhere' in Central Africa. They are obviously popping up from some unidentified carrier animal or plant that is not itself made ill by the viruses.

Why deliberately? See the AIDS scandal in Libya. Incompentent sterilization procedures spread AIDS to hundreds of kids.
You're idea is interesting. I read that some of the locals are keeping out the International health orgs accusing them of spreading the disease. The MSM pose portray these locals as ignorant. But maybe they're quite wise.

You claimed no Marburg vector was ever identified. In the 60's, the vector was known to be the green monkey. There was no mystery to that outbreak.
