The lead organizer for the border patrol group the Minutemen said Tuesday that he wants to invite New York Sen. Hillary Clinton to come to the Arizona-Mexico border this month to review their operation, which has so far netted the arrests of more than 300 illegal immigrants.
"We're thinking of inviting Hillary Clinton," Minuteman founder James Gilchrist told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity, adding that he'd already looked into flight arrangements to Arizona for the former first lady and could provide appropriate security.
Gilchrist's decision to invite Clinton was likely prompted by her tough comments on border security - remarks that place her sharply to the right of the Bush administration on the issue.
"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," she announced in Feb. 2003 radio interview, adding that "people have to stop employing illegal immigrants."
"I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau counties," Clinton railed. "Stand on the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx; you're going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work."
"Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country," the top Democrat urged.
In comments last November, the likely 2008 presidential nominee blasted the Bush administration for turning a blind eye to the problems at the border.
"I don't think that we have protected our borders or our ports or provided our first responders with the resources they need, so we can do more and we can do better," Clinton told the Fox News Channel.
"There's technology now available," she noted. "There are some advanced radar systems. There are biometric and other kinds of identification systems that we've been very slow to deploy and unwilling to spend money on."
Gilchrist said his patrol operation is open to Clinton and anyone else who wants to review its progress, explaining, "When I first launched this in October I insisted that we have open season for all law enforcement to come in and do whatever they want - and the same with the media."
And he pointed out the obvious political benefit for any politician who wants to lend support, noting, "For every [Minuteman] down here we've probably got a hundred thousand supporters across the country."
Gilchrist said the Minutemen have already helped round up scores of illegals.
"About 300," he told Hannity. "And about 40 of those were from an aerial observer who was up six hours yesterday in his aircraft."
I hope you're right. She's a viper. Regardless, I think the GOP is crazy to give her or some other rat this opportunity. FReegards....
Yeah whatever, keep speaking from the hillary playbook.
Thought you might be interested in this development. FReegards....
They really need to WAKE UPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!! and close the borders
Yeah right Ms. gun control hillary is going to embrace gun toting minutemen.
Whew like I said before, you all are smoking something.
My terminology may be off, but this sounds a bit like rope-a-dope.
But I have to agree with you...we shouldn't give her even an inch of opportunity to siphon votes away from the GOP.
It takes two to tango, and the minutemen have their beer googles on wooing hillary.
"Yeah whatever, keep speaking from the hillary playbook."
Hey, I didn't tell you to take a deep breath or pierce your skull with laser beam eyes. I'm not talking with Elaenor Rooselt's spirit.
We've seen eye-to-eye on other issues. Not trying to burn bridges with you. This might cheer you up:

Dozens of shock/laugh links. FReegards....
I didn't give her an inch. I have been on FR saying that she is playing you.
Oh that's right I'm a damn FROBL, so my opinion doesn't matter, according to you.
Enjoy your dance with the devil(hillary).
Eh, I don't think the MMP should invite Hillary at all.
To HiJinx:
Don't worry. Dane assured me she won't go there, but did he tell you that?
"Eh, I don't think the MMP should invite Hillary at all."
I don't either. Their strongest support comes from Rush and Hannity. But the problem isn't with the Minutemen. That's like telling Perot voters that it's their fault Bush Senior broke his new tax promise.
You guys are being suckers, just like the people who voted for Clinton in 92, when he promised a tax cut! Remember how "hard" he "worked," harder than he supposedly ever had? Remember how we got a TAX INCREASE?
Ask yourself if she has EVER been interested in immigration before. President Bush has addressed the issue. No one in Congress has bothered to write up a bill that is constructive. They all stand around and wring their hands and whine on Fox TV to O'Reilly, but NO ONE except the President has offered a solution.
You know what? Go ahead and vote for Hillary. Anybody who even considers this is too stupid to waste my time with.
Uh it looks like they did, but what the hey, let them dig their own political grave.
I hear you, FRiend. Tho' unfortunately I can see the rabid anti-Minutemen types doing something very similar to that!
Great. The broadest possible coalition is always an asset.
Dude like I said before to others on this thread, lay off whatever you smoking.
You didn't read my posts. I realise there are a lot of posts, so I don't fault you. I never said I believe Hellery. All I said is that I don't blame the Minutemen for turning to anyone who will listen to them, especially after Bush called them 'vigilantes'. Asking the Minutemen to be loyal after slapping them around is not sane.
So if I take you at your word, I must be smoking something?
Uh, the invite is not yet confirmed.
Well if you are talking about ole crusty(hillary's pantsuit), you are correct in the above, it is very broad, an asset, I doubt that.
