Gorbachev comes out

The history-making global outpouring of love and respect for Pope John Paul II had the legions of the left singing the blues last week.

It’s not just that world attention was focused on St. Peter’s Square, it was that millions flocked to the precedent-setting farewell to the Pope of the People. April 8, 2005 was televised proof that the global secular mission is not only failing–but also failing abysmally.

"You can come out now," could be the post pope funeral message to the anti-Christian, dying-with-dignity depopulation movement.

Four days after Pope John Paul II’s funeral, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev "came out".

Gorbachev attended a gala dinner at the Liberty Grand in Toronto Monday night. He was there to present the Canadian Red Cross’s Power of Humanity award. The award, the creation of Red Cross Ontario, was bestowed upon Dr. Joseph Wong, a prominent advocate for refugee relief, medical research, social services and geriatric care in Canada.

Gorbachev, now a citizen of the United States of America, used the occasion to boast to reporters.

"Perestroika," he crowed, "is an unprecedented project", reminding us of his economic plan to reform the failing Communist economy. "No similar one has ever been or ever will be undertaken. But it was broken off at the moment when we were moving (toward success)."

In layman’s language, the patient died, but the operation was a success. . . . .

The most telling detail of all, regardless of what he says, is that he is an American citizen.

I Googled, and nowhere have I found anything that even remotely says Gorby is a US citizen.

I was just thinking the same thing, it's the first time I'd heard that.

Gorby lecturing about economics is as important as Jimmuh Carter lecturing about foreign policy.

I think they may be confusing Gorby with Khruschev's son, who indeed recently did become a US citizen.

I think they're being faceitous. No way this could have happened without being major news.

I think you're right. Ol' Gorby becoming an American citizen would have been front page news.

Quite simply, yes it could. If arrangements were made to keep it quiet, it could happen.

I think Gorby's son may be here, as well. Can someone post a picture of Paul Berendt, head of the Washington State Democrats?

If we allowed Gorbachev to receive American citizenship, why are we worried about Mexicans????? Gorbachev was #2 in the soviet KGB to Yuri Andropov when the KGB ordered the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II. He should be stripped of citizenship just as Nazi concentration camp guards are stripped of citizenship. Then he should be dropped on Russia from a plane with a malfunctioning parachute.
