Hill: It's Madame Prez time
New York Daily News ^ | April 12, 2005 | Rush & Molloy

Posted on 04/12/2005 12:23:18 PM PDT by presidio9

Sen. Hillary Clinton has been in politics long enough enough to know that polls can be misleading.

So she told us yesterday that, despite a recent survey that indicated only 68% of men would be willing to vote for a female president, she thinks the time is right.

"It depends on the woman," she said at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards luncheon yesterday at the Waldorf-Astoria. Indeed, the New York legislator may very well be that woman on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Cristiane Amanpour agreed.

"I feel Americans will be ready to empower a woman."

And CBS' Lesley Stahl added, "It's always distressed me that in macho places in Europe and Asia the parliamentary system can produce women prime ministers but somehow our system can't manage that."

Oprah Winfrey exclaimed: "That's about how women see other women. Do we see ourselves as capable and strong? I'm going to have to change this!"

And you know that she will.

She and Bhillary sure entertained the Arafats enough at the White House, 200 times IIRC

"Tom McClintock?"

He needs to become governor or senator first. He will have a good start if he is elected Lieutenant Governor in 2006. Then he can run for governor or senator 4 years later.

But I savor the prospect of President McClintock. Maybe 2012 or 2016.

"Looks more and more like Sanford is NOT running and is pretty adamant about it. Of course we'll keep our eyes on him, but here's someone I think I like even better."

I'm still holding out for Sanford.

But I like Mike Pence so far, but I am worried that he is too unknown. Perhaps he should run in a primary against Indiana's RINO Governor that wants to drastically raise taxes.

Anyone remember that famous quote of Hillary's husband? "Stroke of the pen; law of the land." If that
doesn't make anyone's hair stand on end, they haven't learned a thing from the past.

"Border security" is nothing more than a smoke-screen issue, unless you are referring specifically to shipping containers.

I'm referring to both, and more. But the fact remains, the borders should not be neglected. It's important to keep unauthorized nuclear materials out, but it's also important to keep terrorists out. And the fact that the 9/11 terrorists entered the country legally doesn't mean it isn't important to make sure terrorists don't enter it illegally.

And all this is to say nothing of the more garden-variety criminals who enter from Mexico on a regular basis.

He needs to become governor or senator first.

There's no rule that says that. As a practical matter that may be true for most people, but he's had national exposure. And as for experience, he's proved himself capable of dealing with people he disagrees with without compromising his principles.

Ya got a name recognition problem.

True, but I think that most voters want a level of experience in their Commander in Chief beyond that of a State Senator.

Some would say the same about Sanford (being unknown) but we shall see. I am maintaining the ping list for Sanford of course.

Notice that Hill makes no mention of giving up anything she has for the common good. No, she proposes that the rest of us in flyover country pay the piper while she and her pals dance.

If Hill becomes President, it will be the end of the US as a sovereign nation. By the time she's done, Bill -- if he's still breathing -- will head up the UN and worldwide govt.

Things change quickly, and we'll have a strong candidate by the time campaign season comes around.
