Opponents of Terri Schiavo's right to life had to have been happy with media coverage of the case. First, there was the "GOP Talking Points" memo that made Republicans look bad by depicting their interest in the case as completely partisan. That was seized upon by many media organizations, even though there was never any proof that Republican Senators had even read it. Second, there was heavy publicity given to a flawed ABC News poll finding that 63 percent of people said they supported the decision to remove Schiavo's feeding tube and 70 percent were opposed to congressional involvement. Columnist Michelle Malkin was among those noting that respondents were given misleading information about Terri's status and fate. Mickey Kaus of Slate.com said the poll was badly worded and biased. Here is how ABC framed the main poll question: "As you may know, a woman in Florida named Terri Schiavo suffered brain damage and has been on life support for 15 years. Doctors say she has no consciousness and her condition is irreversible. Her parents and her husband disagree on whether or not she should be kept on life support. In cases like this who do you think should have final say, (the parents) or (the spouse)?" A follow-up question asked: "If you were in this condition, would you want to be kept alive, or not?" The answer was that 78 percent said they would not want to live under similar conditions. Malkin commented that the use of the loaded phrase "life support" in the question evoked images of a comatose patient being artificially sustained by myriad machines and pumps and wires. She added, "Terri was on a feeding tube. A feeding tube is not a ventilator. Terri can breathe just fine on her own."

This is pretty bad. AFAIK, she hasn't even been on a feeding tube for 15 years.
And .. we are well aware that the slimy media words their questions to get the exact answer they want for their polls. That's why we should never be swayed by any media poll - even FOX.
Could it be? Naaahhh..so far they have been completely objective on every issue. (/sarc)
The Networks were indeed biased. Now Peter Jennings has come down with inoperable lung cancer. Does that make him a useless eater? One whose life is not to be considered to be worth saving? I think when it comes to us, or our loved ones, we could not be so cruel and heartless as the USA newspapers have been to Terri Schiavo and her parents.
I've always thought of Peter Jennings as a "useless reporter"... so where does it go from here??? ;-))

I trust my wife to make the difficult choice if I was ever placed into this situation. My wife also expects me to make this difficult choice for her.
What is not allowed, is for the Government, or anyone else, to make that choice for us.
Be VERY careful for what you wish for. You may just get it. Every law can and will be abused, in ways that you may not have thought about during a time of high emotion.
Exactly. Zogby's poll with fairer questioning turned up results opposite from the abc poll.
There was a dispute among family members and the case ended up in court as family disputes sometimes do.
I think its a whole lot of both.
The media bias appears not to be just due to ignorance, but deliberate - and that should concern all of us. If it weren't for FR I would have had little accurate knowledge of this case and would never have heard of the outrageous bias Judge Greer exhibited.
Bill O'Reilly went after the incompetent Judge Rapkin, which led to him resigning. If only we could get someone in the media to go after Judge Greer.
No matter how one felt about keeping Terri alive, Greer's denial of due process to her and the appointment of a guardian such as the sadistic Michael Schiavo, along with the refusal of Jeb Bush to save her, should be of great concern.
Poor Terri thought she was marrying a prince.
She married a man who lies under oath.
1992 Medical Malpractice Trial
Q. What did you do with her cats?MS. Her cats were put to sleep n the advice of my mother-in-law. (Note: The veterinarian who performed the euthanasia of Terri's pets came forward to say there was never any suggestion from Terri's mother that this be done and only Mr. Schiavo's insistence.)
The msm should shoulder even more of the blame than the evil trio. Those were merely 3 sick individuals whereas the msm spread so many lies that the majority of the citizens of these United States never understood it was murder. If the msm had only reported the truth, Terri would be with us today.
However, Terri wasn't allowed to voice her wishes. She didn't have a choice. Greer denied her presence (via video or in person) in his courtroom as well as an attorney ad litem. Her family (parents, siblings, and countless friends) tried to speak for her but because of the law that hino, who was shacked up with another woman, was granted the choice.
