"These self-proclaimed "Minutemen"...

But weren't the original "Minutemen" self-proclaimed as well?

The NY Times editors should read their history books more often.

The American Southwest is now part of the US because of those same type of "vigilantes" that fought Mexican troops.

If the Times had been around at that time they would have been on the side of the Mexicans.

The Minutemen are showing us not only how to seal our borders and protect our national security, they are demonstrating how we, the people, can take back our country from the political establishment.

Which fence would you rather cross if you were sneaking past the Border patrol?

Lets make our Ports of Entry the choice for everyone coming to America.

Some questions and ideas for you to think about.
What do you think would happen if a popular football or other sports star was to start off the project by donating 5 thousand or 5 million dollars to build fences on private property that adjoins the border?

Then a few more sport stars each throw in a couple of thousand or million (grin) of their own money while asking all "True Americans" to send just one hours wages to the FENCE FUND?

Do you think that the politicians would be able to stop this from growing out of control and the voters demanding that the Feds "fence our border lands"?

Do you think the politicians would listen or ignore a million calls a day to their offices?

Never underestimate what the American people can do when they decide they want to do it.

While I'm at it, we could start a "Name and Shame List" of companies that hire illegals. Name the banks that loan money to a tax number when the illegal doesn't have a phony Social Security number. Name the mortgage companies that favor home loans to illegals, using our money for their downpayment.

If you have ideas or questions, throw them in the pot here. I'm sure there's FReeper who can answer most of the questions or critique your ideas.

Do you have any ideas on how to get this started?

We need to keep the fire burning while the media is watching and reporting.

the real solutions to America's flawed immigration policy should be found: in Washington

Some see government as the solution. Some see government as the problem....Reagan.

Why should we trust those who cause the problem to solve it? The minutemen are right on the means that they are using. Private action is what is needed.

Don't work in a corporate campus landscaped by illegals.
Don't work in an office building cleaned by illegals.
Don't shop at a store cleaned by illegals
Don't eat at a restaurant that employes illegals.
Don't attend Catholic or Assembly of God or Baptist churches which all welcome illegals.
Don't sell your house at a profit where the illegal's demand for housing has driven up home values.
Don't collect social security from a system kept alive by illegals with bogus social security numbers.

Do 80% of true Americans oppose illegal immigration? How many are willing to inconvenience themselves to truly oppose it?

I wasn't aware the minutemen were packing. I understood they were just spotters and called in the Federales when they spotted illegals. Is it true that they are armed?

"These self-proclaimed "Minutemen" - whom President Bush has rightly labeled vigilantes - should put their guns away and look where the real solutions to America's flawed immigration policy should be found: in Washington."

The Times fails to grasp the simple fact that the Minutemen were formed because "Washington" is NOT acting and is NOT enforcing existing law. The failure (refusal) of Washington to deal with this problem is the whole point of the exercize.

Um, the problem is Washington isn't doing anything.

Along a border between Mexico and Arizona, a few dozen gunslingers are patrolling for illegal immigrants, and the fact that they have attracted mostly television cameras so far takes little away from the danger they pose to themselves and others.

It would be far saner to leave the patrolling of the border to the border patrol.

These self-proclaimed "Minutemen" - whom President Bush has rightly labeled vigilantes - should put their guns away and look where the real solutions to America's flawed immigration policy should be found: in Washington.

Yeah, leave it to Bush and his liberal supporters and kiss the farm goodbye!

Stay asleep America and miss the aroma of pan, carne and freoles as they trek North!

Do the writers of the NYT ever travel outside the homo-bars of NYCity?

From bonehead articles like this and others, they don't.

Both the NY Slimes and President Bush need to look up the definition of "vigilante". Here is is from Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

Etymology: Spanish, watchman, guard, from vigilante vigilant, from Latin vigilant-, vigilans
: a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law appear inadequate);

Since the Minutemen aren't punishing anyone, rather reporting them to the border patrol for pickup, they are merely good citizens doing what good citizens are supposed to, reporting crimes to the appropriate authorities. They are not trespassing on anyone's property. Many of them are armed for their own protection, because there are some bad hombres in the areas they are operating in.

Along a border between Mexico and Arizona, a few dozen gunslingers are patrolling for illegal immigrants…

And the Border Patrol would also be men & women “slinging” guns!

It would be far saner to leave the patrolling of the border to the border patrol.

Just as the "far saner" Border Patrol are our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles, so too are the Minute Men.
