Day Nine and illegal alien apprehensions are still way down. Locally, traffic has shifted away from the Naco Line, moving eastwards towards Douglas and westward to the Huachuca Mountains and beyond to the San Rafael Valley. There are also reports of more traffic heading towards Nogales and the Tohono Oodham reservation.
There were a couple of good sized groups passing through the Huachucas overnight. Some were nabbed by the Border Patrol immediately after detection, with stragglers appearing throughout the day. Most were reportedly from Michoacan, west of Mexico City. One alien was seen to toss a cell phone into the brush and it was later recovered; the call history may be interesting. The last three stragglers made it back to the highway about lunchtime and were spotted, reported, and picked up by the Border Patrol. One of the agents told us later that these three were Guatamalan.
The morning was bizarre. Before I arrived on site, I found two young females (16-20 years old) frantically trying to flag down any ride they could find. Their coyote had abandoned them in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere. I called it in and waited about 200 yards away. By luck there was a deputy sheriff and a border patrol unit close by and they responded within a couple of minutes. The girls were tired, cold, hungry, dehydrated and terrified. I wanted that coyotes hide.
The morning went from bizarre to unreal within an hour. Chris Simcox and I were conferring on the days outposts when our scanners picked up message traffic on a group of 20+ illegals all of them young females spotted 16 miles north of the border. My guess is that it took them at least two days (possibly three) to reach that point, as the trails do not run in a straight line and cannot be traveled openly. Finding that many women in one group with no men is unheard of. The Border Patrol did a thorough ground/air search of the surrounding area and found no sign of anyone bearing a Y-chromosome. No other details available at this time.
There was a small brushfire of undetermined origin in the upper end of Hunter Canyon late this afternoon, so the night shift may see some more traffic later tonight.
Tomorrow could be interesting, so watch this space.
Those are the same people who don't care that all of their consumer products, much of the food they eat, the clothes they wear, or anything else for that matter are all made somewhere other than the US. Cheap is the bottom line.
They are too shortsighted to understand that without jobs (created by agriculture and manufacturing), the consumer can't afford to buy anything eventually. The road to socialism.
Sounds like the cell phones are key to the crossings......interesting.

Yeah, they're just like their globalist free trade brethren...it's all about lower prices.
Lower prices are beneficial to us all, cheaper wages mean that we all are richer from more abundent goods and services. The problem is two-fold, but it isn't that Mexicans are "stealing jobs." No, the real problem is that our government has placed so much tax and regulation (especially the minimum wage) onto Americans that black market foreign workers are needed to fill economic needs. The other major problem with these illegal aliens is their nature, namely that they are illegal aliens, flouting and cheapening our law while at the same time doing little to aculturize into Americans. I have no problem with cheap wages, indeed we should abolish many taxes and regulations so wages can be legally lowered for everyone, nor do I have a problem with immigration, just the failure of American policy to turn these immigrants into people with American values.
There is also an issue of these immigrants sucking up vast amounts of public goods and services (read welfare\health care, etc). Of course this wouldn't be an issue if not for the Unconstitutional network of government mandated charity (read theft). In any event, the consumption of American taxpayer funded services amount to a massive hidden cost for these workers. Those individuals who think that they're getting a good deal from illegal labor from foreign nations are simply dilusional.
While there is no easy solution to this problem a good few steps in the right direction would be to freeze the border, seek ways to reverse intensive government charity activities, and to amend the Constitution to require that 3 out of 4 grandparents have been citizens in order for a child to be born a citizen. This amendment would revoke citizenship for anyone not meeting those requirements at the time of its passing.
I'm sorry to say that it means the Border Patrol, especially the Douglas element, is a pathetic PC-dominated organization. FYI, the Minutemen are placed along a border truly notorious for border crossers. Just west of Naco, this person saw a covey of a dozen West Africans being bundled off late last year.
Once the Minutemen are gone it will be back to business as usual. Nevertheless, my hat's off to them for publicizing this nation's disastrous immigration policy.
Thanks
I think he was banned from here.
(Loved your Y-chromosome crack in the article!) (Oops, better change that to "joke" not "crack"!)

We're on that road, yet some don't want to see it, they're too busy watching soap operas or "reality" shows, or listening to our own President telling us how good illegal immigration is for America.
Thank you for your service on the front, and for the report!
Well deserved Bumperoonie!

Please include me in your ping list. Thanks for your work. Thanks.
Its a Verizon phone. I used to have one.
Thanks for the updates, I was wondering if there had been any talk on site about making the project longer or permanent? since the infrastructure is in place, all thats needed is a rotation of volunteers...
