I think what is really happening is that some of these intelligent men are *introverted* intelligent men. Introversion is a disadvantage in dating, where first impressions count. Due to their reserved nature these introverted men have a harder time making "first contact" and are less likely to make a good impression (you have to get to know them).

Some of these men are probably highly abstract thinkers. Abstract thinking is very useful in the chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer labs. It is far less useful in the social world.

It is the combination of abstract thinking and introversion that make it hard for these men to meet women.

While introversion is less of a disadvantage for women in dating (they don't have to make the first move), abstract thinking (the geek factor) is. A quiet, reserved woman may still find dates but a logical, abstract, geeky type will put off a lot of men.

It is not just intelligence, it is the mixture of introversion and logical, abstract thinking that makes it difficult for these smart but geeky types to find dates. Intelligent, extravert, men (and women) will probably have no trouble finding dates.

I lived in Manhattan, so when I went on a date it was usually with a liberal. If I decided that I had had enough and wanted an "exit", I would just say something like "I was listening to Rush the other day and ....". A fun way to end what might have been an unsatisfying evening.

Anyhoo, You say you want to go back 100 years, I just want to go back 20, to have another chance with a woman who genuinely cared about me, but at the time ,I was distracted by others, till it was too late.I would give a LOT, probably even a CTC5, or, maybe even a ct100, or Zenith Stratosphere, to have another chance with Kim.

Yeah, I see what you mean, I think I'd take you up on your offer to go back 20+ years even if I had to give up a CT-100 (*) as well. B-) I think back in high school, I aimed a little too high so that could have been my problem as well by overlooking others. I dunno. I always thought it would be cool to go back in time to my 16/17 year old body with my 38/39 year old brain.

I'd have to agree with you on this. I had this happen once about two hours before we were supposed to get together. I never even considered calling her back. A test? More like a game and I'm not interested in games.

Your point is taken. Experienced this with my PhD father in law. I've also discovered that a person's openness to such topics is almost directly proportional to the amount of travel overseas they have done as a part of their profession. Tourist travel doesn't count.

I could not agree more. Thats about the only thing I'm certain about in regard to women. Doesn't matter the background or nationality.
There is nothing like a women's laugh - one of life's little pleasures.
Just as long as shes not laughing uncontrollably while say...in divorce court or the first time your making love.
