"Tom's conduct is hurting the Republican Party, is hurting this Republican majority and it is hurting any Republican who is up for re-election," Rep. Chris Shays, R-Conn., told The Associated Press in an interview, calling for DeLay to step down as majority leader.
DeLay "becomes the poster child for a lot of the things the Democrats think are wrong about Republican leadership. As long as he's there, he's going to become a pretty good target," Dodd said on ABC.

Isn't it a town in Florida?
Prissy Chrissy would rather curry favor with the RATs and the press than defend his own leader.
Well Shays has to be concerned about his constituents but calling for DeLay to step down is way overboard. He can distance himself from DeLay without giving comfort to the rats.
The rats think DeLay's comments about impeaching Greer made him vulnerable so they are coming out with a bunch of piddly campaign charges. The fact that they waited until now to release them together shows they are insubstantial. I see no comments from the GOP leadership to indicate DeLay's days are numbers. This is a media fishing expedition.
Agreed. Whether its a fishing expedition by the left or not, the Reps need to understand their loyalties and step up to the plate.
Whats good for the nation is good for the party! My patience with the Reps is just about gone at this point. If they want to be liked, they are in the wrong business.
Never new it, but this thread, I guess that saying goes even further with Shays.
Get wimmin and fags out of government. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Shays sucks citrus fruit.
Do they really? Is this just another media-spawned scandal? I honestly don't know. Although it's nothing new for Shays to team up with the Dims, where is the vocal support for DeLay from the rest of the GOP majority?
"Shays: why should McCain be the media's ONLY favorite Republican?"
===
I think you may have hit the nail on the head.
The Hammer will survive, but Shays wont.
This isn't about anyone gunning for his leadership position. This is about rinos (there'll be more than shays) doing a Christine Todd Whitman on conservatives.
Delay needs to go!
He has dubious ethics at best.
He let us down by politicizing the Shiavo fiasco.
And now he has become a liability. The public will focus on this clown and his baggage and not on important conservative legislation.
"We cant do that, the RINOS will start crying and switch over to the Dark Side"
The quicker Shays switches the better!
How much of that do you think there would be right now IF NOT for TOM DELAY?
Shut up.
Well they are representatives. They have to be liked to get re-elected. It does no good to pass legislation and that will be replaced because the Republicans got replaced by rats. However it is possible to be liked even though the voter may not agree on the legislative actions.
I think the GOP was right to try and save Terri and even though many people disagreed with the legislation for constitutional or other reasons it is hard for most people to be angry at the GOP for trying to save a woman's life.
I suspect Dubya and many other Republicans agree that Greer needs to be replaced but since legislation did not save Terri and produced a backlash against the GOP, impeachment will play right into the hands of rats who point the finger of Theocracy at us. It may be wiser to use the anger at Greer to help push through Dubya's filibustered judicial nominees.
Shays is right-DeLay is and remain a target and will help bring down the GOP unless he resigns
Since DeLay is concerned about rogue judges, you can bet there will be a lot of attacks on issues on which the Democrats got a pass.
Whatever newbie. Go back to DU, LP or where ever you came from.
It's time the Republicans tell the RATS to stuff it. Until such time as the Republicans stand up for their leaders the RATS will continue to demonize and run people such as DeLay out of their positions. They did it with Newt and Lott; this stuff has to stop.
